So you believe that Jesus would support a for profit insurance based healthcare system?

Jesus would be for our spirituality and salvation. He would support whatever the government put in place be it private or socialist.

It is up to us as humans to decide how we take care of ourselves physically and up to Jesus to take car of us spiritually.

I think that Jesus would support a for profit insurance based healthcare system, that would have policies tailored for the healthcare needs of the applicant.

    Oh wait, that's me...

    Sorry, can't speak for Jesus.

I would have to disagree. Based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and based on the examples of his life, I have a hard time believing that he would feel that a "for-profit" insurance based healthcare system that provides treatment based on ability to pay would have been something that he would have ever advocated for.

That's what I'm asking. I'm not asking you to "speak" for Jesus. I'm asking whether based on studying his examples and the teachings of him whether YOU believed he would support one of the other.

Who's interest does the government have in mind by providing a health care plan for what is mostly for poor people? I'm not debating whether the miracle Jesus actually support it literally. Just whether or not the guy named Jesus who said a lot of things about loving man kind would support a plan like this.

Honestly Disneydude? How is clothing the naked, and healing the sick yourself the same as putting a gun to someone else's head to make them do it?

    Re: Healthcare question for Christians

In Matt 19:21 Jesus said "if you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor and you shall have treasure in heaven.

This was the reply Jesus gave to a young rich man who had asked him how to gain eternal life. Earlier Jesus had said to follow the commandments and the young man had said that he had followed them, then this advice. Give every thing to the poor??? The young man went away in despair.

Then Jesus remarked the well known saying about the rich man and the camel and the eye of the needle.

The meaning is clear, It will be the putting of money before helping the poor that will be your ticket to hell.

This passage is the one that put me at odds with most modern mainstream Christians and their seeming love of amassing wealth. It is right there as plain as day, worrying more about your money than the welfare of your fellow man puts your soul at peril.

Jesus said some pretty liberal things that are just ignored in our rush to accumulate the biggest pile but I never saw a hearse with a luggage rack, in the end all you have are the deeds you must answer for.

Jesus told the RICH man to give away his possesions. He didn't tell the man next to him to take the rich man's things. Jesus realized that while God offered his outstretched hand to anyone, only they alone could reach back. You can't force altruism.
