I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

How much do you think those 5000 people worked so that they could eat? And no. Following somebody around all day is not work. I did that today. It's more annoying then an STD.

Can somebody point me to a passage where Jesus said it was the responsibility of Government to provide healthcare for all of their citizens?

The question is what would Jesus do in this case if he had to deal with UHC. My guess is he'd probably back it. He was all into that whole love your neighbor thing.

If there was, there wouldn't need to be the question.

That said. Based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, do you believe that he would have supported UHC or a for-profit healthcare system based on ability to pay?

I agree. If you look at the life and teachings of Jesus Christ to me its obvious. However, I'm interested in what other Christians believe based on the life and teachings of Christ.

To hold that view, one must already have come to the conclusion that those who seek to provide universal healthcare have the best interest of "the people" in mind.

Jesus could heal a person by touching them. A mere mortal has no such power. Don't you think it's unreasonable to compare someone like Jesus - God on earth, who could literally provide uhc to all himself, to common men?

That being said, I don't see any reason to believe that Jesus would support the good shepherds of Government having so much control over man who was given free-will.
