Damn things could have started out as grapes or olives for all we know...
I always wondered why they tasted absolutely nothing like cherries, and now I know.

Just have to add some sugar and/or salt like the brand names do. Otherwise, it tastes like - peanuts. Remember to stir it before each use because the peanut oil seperates quickly.

I only eat organic when I am at my mom's house, as that's the stuff she gets.

And for someone who fed her children all kinds of junk and crap, she sure is on some kind of high -organic food- horse, preaching to me about not feeding my child organic.
I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it.

Most of the high dollar marketing is not going to organic food or free-range chicken. When's the last time you saw a TV ad for free-range chicken eggs? Again, what do politicians and wall street financiers have to do with organic food?

If someone is stupid enough to buy seomthing they do not need simply because some marketing type tell they should, they got just what they deserve.

    That's right

For those of us who try to eat locally grown food from small farmers, it is also about supporting the community, eating things that have not traveled all the way from California and knowing that animals have had a humane existence while they lived.

The marketers ARE clever, though. As Michael Pollan observed , with a few exceptions, a person should run the other way if a box of food makes health claims. The broccoli bin is not festooned with nutrition claims.

Since Pollan published his books and people are slowly learning about the health hazards of H.F. corn syrup some drinks advertise "real sugar"- like it is a healthy substitute!

Except that unless you are buying everything you eat exclusively from the local people who grow it, you never know where it came from. There is no packaging requirement to print where any food, organic or otherwise, was produced. For all you know, the "organic" food you buy in the supermarket came from Canada or Brazil or China.
