I figure we should find out what Obama's approval rating would be on this website because I think the majority of people on this forum are well-educated on what's been happening. So do you approve or disapprove of the job that Obama has done so far? Why?

This is a very right-wing/libertarian forum, I suspect that he will have a high disaproval rating here....

I don't know about that. We got a bunch of loonies on both sides, a significant number of independents, but many people who view each issue separately. But then again, the loonies may dominate the poll.

Yeah but we mine as well find out. Plus people can use this poll to debate Obama's decisions too.

I approve. I have not agreed with all of his proposed policies, but the system is working and Congress is filtering to get to mainstream.

You don't understand. In the eyes of the left, any board that doesn't ban libertarians and conservative posters is "extreme right wing". DU is their "middle of the road board".

What's working?

Yes, I agree, Congress is being pulled back from the socailist brink because the proposed health care take over scares the **** out of people, and they're already seriously pissed off at your Messiah's Crap&Trade, two trillion dollar deficits, and overall general incompetence.

I approve of the job he's doing. My support for him hasn't changed even slightly, because I was well aware of the enormous tasks he was about to tackle. I also knew that he wasn't going to accomplish all his goals, so when he has a setback to his agenda it's pretty much as I suspected.

I answered the "neither" option. (Or whatever it said).

His recent faux pas with the speaking out against the harvard police really threw me for a loop. I can't believe that he would make such a rookie mistake at the level he's attained. It makes me wonder about his other skills if he so easily makes such a blatant error.

Well a significant number of these "Independents" are transparent right wingers that make a shameless attempt to appear neutral as a means to gain credibility by hiding their true ideological leaning.

Do you have proof of this? I've never heard this sentiment before, and i keep up with political opinion fairly well, i think. It seems i would have heard this at some point.

Thanks.

You know the old saying walks like a duck, quacks like a duck? Well these people know who they are specifically, and that is all that can or needs to be said. You know what they say about first impressions, and I think the honesty we express by selecting our own label goes a long way towards establishing credentials and credibility. This goes for anyone regardless of ideology, to deliberately misrepresent themselves is shameless and should not be accepted practice. I hold them to the same standard I hold to myself, when I joined here I saw I had a choice to make, and I made a decision based upon what most accurately reflects my view.

Yeah and you are really "slightly liberal"

Are you saying he's wrong? If Scarecrow Akbar's independent, I'm libertarian... which I'm not.

As for the approval rating, I can tell you that it's not going to change much at all over the next three years, and it's going to sit at 65-70% disapproval for that time span unless Obama gets abducted by the Rand Institute and replaced with a libertarian clone.

So no proof then, just your opinion based on personal experiences? That's not much of a sample size. I was hoping for some sort of nonpartisan data from a somewhat reliable source or something like that. Oh well.

Yes, lets try this. List all the independents.

Huh?

How can you be so certain? That sounds too much like religious dogma for me to really pay it much mind. I could just as easily make a statement to the contrary, and it'd be just as meritorious.

He is talking about the membership at this site. There isn't going to be a nonpartisan analysis of the membership of this site.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. This was not clear in his post. It seemed like he was talking about the public at large.

welcs :2wave:

This needs more options. I approve of his handling of some issues and disapprove of his handling of other issues.

Interesting

Currently 36% approve and 51% disapprove. Site membership statistics say that (out of people who identified as either liberal, conservative or independent) 33% are conservative and 27% are liberal. Gallup reports that 53% approve and 39% disapprove, and that party affiliation (I know, I know, conservative != republican) in the us breaks down as 26% republican 33% democrat. So, all in all, our opinions match America at large, but the political leaning is flipped

?? It seems like the approval/disapproval is also flipped.

More options? You either approve, disapprove, or neither. It's what you think of the job he's done as a whole.

Maybe she approves or disapproves of most things, but approves or disapproves of major things? I could see finding yourself approving of many things Obama is doing, yet finding major problems with a couple major initiatives. Or, approving of a couple major things, while disapproving of most other things. It could make deciding which camp to come down in tricky.
