No.

Gates acted an ass, and Obama spoke stupidly, and neither has apologized.

I would not give them the "good press" of having me up "for a beer" without apologies from both.

Personally, I'd go on the air and trash them both and tell Obama to stick his apology in his ass.

But I'm spiteful and angry.

If he paid for the round trip plane ticket or gas to drive up there I would go and then demand a real apology and get my picture taken with the president.

Brother James, I highly doubt that the secret service would let you anywhere near the Whitehouse. :rofl

Just sayin'.....

Have yourself a GREAT weekend. :2wave:

If I were the cop I would go to the white house, shake hands, and be friends in the interest of what is a rather small matter when boiled down to it's basic components. And don't even get me started about the melodramatic race war, put a sock in it cry babys

An investigation by their Department Standards Division found that the officer acted exactly according to policy.
Just for my own edification, have you a link?

There must not be too many military personal on this thread.

Cause I gotta tell you there was this second louie I had when I was in the army, man this guy had a problem, but when he told me to come I was there when he told me to do something I did it.

Nope. Heard an interview with the Sergeant on the radio, he said that their Standards Department conducted an investigation and declared that he followed policy exactly. Sorry.

Hell, I haven't heard anything that says the officer overreacted in the slightest. Now, I don't think Professor Gates was legally guilty of Disorderly Conduct--which is why those charges were dropped-- but when confronted with an irrational and belligerent man who refuses to calm down, what choice do the police have but to arrest him, at least until he cools off?

I know that if I mouthed off to a police officer in that fashion, and yelled at a police officer in the manner I have heard described, I would be arrested. After being tasered. And possibly beaten.

I wish I were oppressed and profiled like old, rich Harvard professors were.

No worries. Just hadn't seen/heard that little tidbit before, and was wondering where you got it from. Thanks! ;)

Hell no.

Let that boy apologize on national TV, and let it be a real apology.

I wouldn't lend him a photo-op to lie some more.

On reflection... it was probably Sgt Crowley's Captain or Chief who made the call that yes, Crowley was going to visit the Casa Blanca, and make nice with BHO and Gates.

It's possible, but given the grace of his public statement following President Obama's phone call, it seems to me that he would have chosen to cooperate on his own. He seemed satisfied with the President's actions, and I would imagine that he has wanted to smooth over the ruffled feathers with Professor Gates since this story began.

He's just not going to stand for being told that he acted improperly when every indication was that he did not.

As to whether Sgt Crowley is going willingly and enthusiastically, or is just putting a good face on the inevitable, I have no idea. Still I bet dollars to doughnuts that his Chief told him "you need to do this".

i will g o for free beer. :)

Yes the cop should..He played a role in the whole thing...in many ways not a proper role...once it was established that gates lived there the cop should have walked....even though he was taking a verbal bashing...that is part of a cops job.

His job was to establish if there was a Breaking and Entering taking place. Once that was established..he should have walked...no matter what. Unless he was phycially in danger.

He certainly should be humble enough to go to the Whitehouse if invited and admit his faults just as others will..If not he will look like that arrogant ass that he has already proven himself to be.

wow, just wow. :doh

It's really hard to believe some of the people on this site and in America today.

One has to look no further than here to see why our nation is in the mess it's in.

232 years ago you'all would be in favor of keeping the British in power, why rock the boat, pay the tax, don't worry be happy.

A lot of good people gave their lives for the freedoms we have today, and most people today, would squander it away cheaply.

I think that police abuse the disorderly conduct charge to arrest those that anger them. I have many police friends, and they have told me many times that people that piss them off are arrested under such charges all the time.

No, I'd never have a drink with the Purple Drank Prince.

It was false arrest...the white cop needs to apologize to Gates.

The cop should have walked away as soon as it was established that Gates was in his own home.

I would go and explain to him how much I didn't appreciate his words.

If it was false arrest why hasn't the cop been disciplined? Also, if it was false arrest why did the IA people find that he acted dutifully and within SOP per his Department?

Cause it wasn't, you're ****ing speculating to make the white guy who was harassed by two black racists to be the bad guy in this whole ordeal.

Well played, well played sir.

Sure I'd go. I've never been to the White House as an offcial visitor.
