If I had been the cop, the president would have never heard about it.

Obama et. al, do not rise to the dignity of Panthera leo.

More properly, the White House is now best described as a nest of rabid weasels.

No! I don't think I could disrespect myself that much, and if I did go it would prove that I am stupid.I don't care if he is the President,I can get a tour of the White House on the computer, and drink a beer with my buddies, and let him figure out that he's got nothing commin.

But then I have something most politicians don't have PRIDE.

Nope. But he IS the POTUS and meeting any of them is an honor relatively rare.

I repect Sgt. Crowley and I think Gates acted like a jerk or a child or a race baiting prick. But Sgt. Crowley COULD have acted differently and changed the outcome of this whole thing.

I support Sgt. Crowley though and think that in the interest of tranquility, and without admitting wrongdoing, he and Gates should attempt to find common ground to put this episode behind them both.

    No ring kissers here.

Yes. The President is, as a man of honor, attempting to make amends for his hasty and ill-chosen words and it would provide Sgt. Crowley the opportunity to demonstrate that he was-- and still is-- the better man in the situation. Plus, it is an opportunity to restore frith between himself and Professor Gates, which will symbolically help to restore the frith in the community that has been damaged by this incident.

These three gentlemen have the opportunity to help uphold order, peace, and trust within their community. For one of them to refuse this opportunity out of wounded pride would be short-sighted, selfish, and shameful.

What would you do. Go or Not to go.

For me I owuld have told Mr. Obama to go get screwed and that he owes me a Public Apology and that his Friend Prof. Gate need to get ove himself and comeout and say he was wrong.
If he paid for the round trip plane ticket or gas to drive up there I would go and then demand a real apology and get my picture taken with the president.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

The President is a spokesman of the American people, and as such should be held to a higher standard,by making such a public statement about the officer, and then when public opinion goes the other way, then gives a half-hearted apology,to clean up his statement is not acceptable.

He is the President and his job is to make life better for( we the people),he's not perfect, no one is,but to give a lame duck apology, because you're part of the elite ruling class, of the unwashed masses is not acceptable.

I think that Sgt. Crowley and Mr.Gates should sit down and have a beer together and discuss their problems, which is the way it should have been handled in the first place.

Frith is an obsolete English word meaning "peace; freedom from molestation, protection; safety, security".[1]

If I thought Obama was a man of honor, I'd probably agree with you.

Still, there's the "salute the uniform, not the man in it" theory I suppose.
