I'm all for having to earn your swears, maybe for those with 1000+ posts only? Or you get a certain number per post/per day based on your user stats? Spammers and ne'er-do-wells become even more unpleasant without the filter, and though swearing certainly has its place in life and online I find rows of asterisks visually pleasing as well.

Topics on racial slurs, and profanity do occur - even unfrequently - in the state of NY I heard years ago about a plan to ban the word "Nigger" in schools.
