If you can find the link to that article, I would so love to read it.
I had thought it was a piece by David Frum that Andrew Sullivan had put on his blog at the Atlantic, but when I went back and looked I could not find it. Could also have been at Daily Beast. I am still searching for it, hopefully I can come up with it again.

So he embraces what someone else says, and because the other person didn't serve, Beck is crazy. No wonder no one takes you seriously.

I am really kicking myself for losing this link, but I read a few weeks back an excellent essay someone wrote on this whole subject that include the likes of Beck. The problem with Beck is that he has taken the blending of important issues and turned them into tabloid news. Could anyone ever imagine if Edward R. Murrow, or a young Walter Cronkite, came out of college that most likely they would be unemployed.

For me Glen Beck illustrates the importance of our print media that has taken such beating of late. These yokels not only seek to NOT inform their audience, but worse to actually leave their audience LESS informed than when they began watching. In the same amount of time it takes to watch one of these idiot shows I can have read both the NY Times and Washington Post and be infinitely more informed than even the host on his chosen subject of the day. But then again, they really are not in the business of being informed, but rather the business of selling ad space. And the crazier Beck gets the better for the stock price.
You just don't seem to get it (and neither does MG apparently). Beck is not a journalist. Beck entertains and informs. He goes so far over the top with so many of his antics that you can't help but laugh. I enjoy watching his show and I listen to his radio show when I can. He's funnier than say Olbermann. He's just as informative as Olbermann is (more I believe). He holds both party's feet to the fire too.

I've never taken one story Beck, O'Reilly, Olbermann, Matthews or any other pundit as fact. If something interests me, I will research it further on my own. No news organization can be trusted completely and neither can any pundit (which is what Beck is).

What I find comical is that it's always leftists attacking pundits other than "their own". When was the last time a leftist started a thread attacking Olbermann, Matthews or Maddow? Sure, there aren't a lot of righties that create a thread attacking one of their own - no wait, Dana has done that quite often. I guess we need some liberals here that can see things for what they truly are instead of sticking their fingers in their ears and saying "I can't hear you".

David Frum? Hmmmm... that would be interesting. He was a shill for Bush. And speaking of newscasters, his mom was one of the best.

P/N, I don't give a rat's ass whether they are considered newscasters, pundits, hosts or comedians. They are featured on a news network... you know, the place where people normally tune into to get news. I don't want no freakin dog and pony show, or some dumbass crying and playing with dolls. Do you get where I am coming from now? Television news is a freaking joke.

And please, don't tell me that joe schmo doesn't tune in every night and hang by Beck every word and tears. Please.

Glad you know better. Many don't.

Oh, yes... all the time! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Yeah, wish I were as big as those righties who have nothing to say about Air America and Olbermann.

Good lord, want a tissue for that whine? Gimme a freaking break.

Why don't you take a look at what I wrote about Olbermann, in this very thread. Oh, but I didn't start it, damn!!! I guess that makes my thoughts on him null and void.

Colbert is a comedian and Olberman is the anti-O'Reilly. I don't really watch any of them. I watch Colbert if he has a good guest. I think Jon Stewart is hilarious.

None of them are real journalists, but political/comedic commentators.

I don't pay attention to him. He just is not that interesting from any standpoint IMHO.
