I always used to think this was the case when I was younger. Then, when you're at school, all your professors tell you about how that's just a myth created by the Republicans, how poor people actually don't live like that, how it's a stereotype borne out of prejudice, etc. You hear that enough and you actually start to believe it.

Then you get out into the real world and work at a job that brings you into contact with these actual people and gives you an absolute and perfect inventory of their income, bank statements, properties, expenditures, cars, etc. And lo and behold, you find out that the vast majority of them spend their money on the dumbest ****.

I can't tell you how many deadbeat dads I've heard complain about how they can't make their $125/week child support, yet they

    1) Own houses in FL/AZ,
    2) Earn >$60k year under the table, or
    3) Have >2 cars that cost more than $25k

    It's ****ing insane.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Alot of time not wanting to pay child support is a way of showing opposition to the spouse, exgirlfriend, "baby momma", or whatever.

The reasons you give are caused by poverty; but intolerance, hatred, fear cause the poverty.....and some people are not strong enough to overcome this...

Do you think these people, or any people wish to live as they do ??
Has anyone , in the history of man, ever bothered to ask this question, AND listened to the answer ???

Survival of the fittest ... pertains primarily to animals, not humans....of course, there is an effect...

    Hmm.....

    YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most people settle for smoking crack and getting high off government money!!!

People in cities vote for primary what type of party??
Democratic why?? They represent the poor and feed into the poor lifestyle.

Politically aware people should not ask such insane questions.
    Let's figure it out.

Going house hunting up here in the DC Metro Area made me realize the truth of these stereotypes sometimes. A few actually. Two of the past townhouses I went to (I only make around $40k up here which, back where I'm from would be nice and comfortable, up here is a bit on the low side) had literally 2 to 3 families living in them. Both houses seem a bit ran down, the cars outside were older, a number of the things in the house looked older and poor quality....yet both had at least 2 big screens in the house. It just kind of left me scratching my head a bit because they were SO out of place with the rest of the house.

If this hasn't been mentioned before, all cell phones (even without service plans) can call 911. My father has avoided a cell phone for many years despite his company offers to pay for it and frequent business travel. He still keeps my mothers old phone charged in the car in case of emergency.
