    But.................

    Elvis was Elvis. 'Nuff said?

PS... to answer the thread topic. Nationally, I gotta give it to Elvis. In 30 years, that might change.

    Internationally, it's MJ hand's down.
Elvis's voice defined an entire genre of rock...and he could actually play guitar, which is more then I've ever seen of Jackson.
And why does your tone suggest that you do not care about children?

Elvis because he was not slandered as badly as MJ.
Plus His music is a little better in my opinion but MJ is good to.

Agreed. (However, it's one thing to be able to strum a few chords on a guitar and quite another to actually "play" a guitar.) I was better on guitar after 3 weeks of practice than Elvis ever was during his entire life. Yet, look at me. I never got famous. Sometimes, perhaps, it's just the luck of the draw. Being at the right place at the right time.

But I digress. The thread question was strictly about who's the most famous and NOT who is the most talented. Hell, Paris Hilton is "famous."

So, I got to hand it to Elvis based on that criteria. But, that being said, all Elvis has on MJ is that he is the most popular amongst Americans, across the board. I don't think anyone can objectively state that Elvis has more talent than MJ. But he certainly has more fame. But in decades to come, that could all change. Time will tell.

Elvis is soooooo over-rated. But then again, I can list a handful of performers that accomplished fame utilizing minimal talent.

For example. Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Bob Dylan. Whoever told those guys that they were good "singers" was blowing smoke up their hinder. They suck. But, in time, their sucky voices take on an art form of their own and Voila, they are famous.

Show business is two words. Elvis is famous for "taking care of business." I found his "show" to be quite lacking. But it's all just a matter of opinion. Another opinion may totally oppose mine. But that's ok. If someone finds it to be entertaining, that's good enough. I can't understand what people see in hip-hop "artists." (I use the word lightly.) Who in their right mind can equate a scratch "artist" to a real musician? Yet, some do.

    It's all so subjective, hey?

Its beyond my intelligence as to why Jackson would even be "famous"...At least Elvis played to a wider audience. Both are entertainers....of a sort..
The man who landed the aircraft on the river surface, saving hundreds of lives, should be far more famous.
I think our society is sick...

This is very good response! Very true about our world today.

MJ could dance and made some great songs
I can not think of one person that can dance like MJ could in his prime.

Besides, anyone can play a guitar and i can think of people who can play better than EP

Not just anyone can play the guitar. Sure, there are loads of people better than Elvis at it, but most people can't even reach his level of playing. You've got to have some musical ability.

That is jealousy talking lol, the man danced so good and his music ...
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex30DYwQlHU"]YouTube - Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal[/ame]

    He had music ability?

Could have fooled me. I see nothing special about Elvis, highly overrated.
I prefer Beyonce - At least i can stand looking at her (and she can sing .... and dance)

You can finish the sentence: His music was terrible and can only be called music if one really stretches the meaning of the word beyond any semblance of it's original meaning."

    He had music ability?
Both of them had more ability than the average person, but less than the truly good musicians of the world. And they both get destroyed by the great musicians of the world.

Neiteh rone f them had anything that could remotely be calle dmusical innovation. It was pop crap.

Could have fooled me. I see nothing special about Elvis, highly overrated.
I'm not an Elvis fan, myself, but I also realize Jackson's songs are equally terrible.

They suck equally, and neither of them ever put out anything of musical worth.

I prefer Beyonce - At least i can stand looking at her (and she can sing .... and dance)
Another person who has done nothing that can be considered musically noteworthy. No musical innovation, just simplistic crap designed to appeal to teenage girls.

And that's the best way to tell if something has any musical value. If it's primary audience is pre-teen and teenage girls, it's 99 out of 100 times going to be musically worthless.

If you want to rank these people as dancers, perhaps you can make a case, but as musicians, they are bottom feeders.
