Stevie Wonder is certainly cool too, but he's never had anywhere near the cultural influence that MJ had.
I don't think there is any musician alive today who would get this much of a reception if they died...nor are there any alive who deserve it more than MJ.

i like Michael jackson becuase h e is the music i listen.
I love to watch him dance. I also respect all that he has done for charity. As far as the child molestation thing, I don't know if he did it or not. I would love to think that he didn't. He was undeniably talented and helped unite blacks and whites while breaking barriors.

Elvis popularised and gave an edge to an underground music form (real black R&B) and allowed white Americans to enjoy something they secretly wanted to. Times have changed and most underground music forms have been plundered - I doubt there would be anything left now for him to change and make his own.
They were both great - but for different reasons and they are both unique and of their time period only. Take them both out of their time and we would probably never have heard of them.

By far Elvis IMO. I was born long time after Elvis died and I seriously doubt that Michael Jackson will be that famous for the next generations like Elvis.
