I'm more of a mild type of guy. Cracked pepper and cajun is just about fine for me.

To compensate, I'm a salt, salt, salt man. Nothing is ever too salty for me.

That is not good for your blood pressure. Please control your salt intake for your health;)

Can only have mild, I've tried the super hot stuff and I can't take it....

We have a restaurant near me who are known for their buffalo wings and you have to actually sign a waiver to order the "911" wings....that's how bad they are and you can't take them home, you have to eat it there......

I have very sensitive taste, so anything to spicy/salty/sugary is out of the question for me. Thats not to say I cannot handle things of that variety, but I trend towards eating foods that are a bit more bland and I never add anything to my food to increase its particular aspect. I don't salt down a steak, I don't put syrup on ice cream, and for the love of god I never put tobasco sauce on, well, anything. Onions and peppers enjoy a lifetime ban from my mouth.

I like spicy, but not painful spicy. I don't wish to feel pain while eating.

While in India, I ate a pepper on my plate that I wasn't supposed to actually eat. (I didn't know I wasn't supposed to) I thought I was going to die. The pain was so intense and the tears just wouldn't stop. I couldn't finish my meal, I couldn't talk, I couldn't do anything but sit there and drool and cry. It ****ing sucked.

Anywho, I like spicy, but I just don't want to be in pain when I eat, so the spicy-ness must stop there for me to enjoy the meal.

I typically always get the hottest option. Buffalo Wild Wings, it has to be the blazing sauce. When I go with my buddies, we always order a ton of blazing wings, an order of buffalo chips, and a side of blazing sauce so that we may dip the buffalo chips in them. I don't cook anything that doesn't have at least Tabasco sauce in it, if not some nice peppers (jalapenos make a good sweet pepper to cook with, habanero when I want to kick it up a notch...BAM!) I think I've killed a lot of pain receptors because I have to get the spiciest to have the experience of eating anything spicy. Lower than that tends to be "mild". A lot of "spicy" food is actually American spicy, i.e. not at all.

I am not into hot spices. I love a juicy, tasty, well marinated steak with some sauteed mushrooms and a baked potato!:)

I have an uncle that makes his chili so "hot-n-spicy" that sweat beads down your face when you eat it..

See... I don't think Tabasco is spicy. I just think it's disgusting.

Try the one that comes in a green bottle. It's great! And if you don't like that, try the Habanera Sauce. 2 drops in a taco made me start crying :).

It's alright, it's not very spicy, not even the habanero one (though it's ok). I like the Chipotle one the best, even though it's not spicy at all I think it tastes really good.

You want spicy, go to India. THAT was ****ing spicy.

I like savory flavors. I think when something is too spicy, it kills the taste experience and just eclipses it with heat. Not an enjoyable experience.

I also like Franks Red Hot sauce with fried catfish or fried chicken,

Frank's hot sauce is AWESOME. I bought a gallon of it from Costco and it goes on just about all things chicken, fish, and pizza that I make. Already half way through the jug. I think my bowels have calloses.

Exactly. When I'm pain, I'm not longer enjoying any flavor. There IS no flavor at that point. There is only hot. And hot for the sake of hot is not appetizing. I like flavorful and savory, as you said.

As I expected.

Its the 'cliche cool' thing to say you like really spicy food.

It goes along with other 'cliche cool' things, like saying your irish or native american, or both.

BAM!
:rofl

Sorry, I responded honestly. I'll have to keep in mind in the future what Caine believes is cliche or not and word my responses accordingly.

I like to go up in flames once in a while. Sushi with the green stuff and the ginger root can light you up, if the hot stuff is fresh and potent. I love Mexican, Indian and Thai too.

OTOH I have to be a little more careful how much of that I do these days, my digestive tract is now middle-aged and will only suffer so much abuse.

this is me as well.

I really like extremely spicy food, but I now pay when I go that route and never used to. I'm a stubborn man though, so I deal with the after effects more often than I should.

The problem with eating really spicy food is that it seems that you get addicted to really spicy food. I have a buddy who likes to cook a lot and we made up a new hot wing sauce which is really good made with wasabi and habanero. Tasty! While really hot, not overly so. You get the quick hit from the wasabi and then the slow burn from the habenero afterwards. It's a work of pure genius.

Of course, maybe I should as Caine if I really did this or if I'm just being cliche since he knows all about my eating habits...apparently. Which makes me wonder if whether or not I should be looking at getting a restraining order.

I used to eat some food fairly hot and spicy, but not so much anymore.

It's not because I've gotten older and my digestive tract won't handle the spice, I think it's that my palate has gotten more sophisticated as I've gotten older and I've begun to appreciate the subtle flavors in some food.

Plus, I've lost my appetite for hot sauce made with vinegar as one of the ingredients. I enjoy eating green chile sauce when I'm in New Mexico, and I like the Dou Ban sauce in Chinese restaurants, but the Louisiana-style of hot sauce (Tabasco, Crystal, Trappey's, Frank's Red Hot, etc...) just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Although, I will confess that I like Baron West Indian Hot Sauce, which is made with Scotch bonnet peppers, vinegar, salt, mustard, onion and garlic.

I've a friend who eats his sushi covered in wasabi - literally a thumbnail-size glob on every piece. He says it's the only way he can eat sushi, I tell him he should just eat the wasabi and let me have his sushi!

Sriracha is my sauce of choice. Red Hot is alright as a base for a more complicated hot sause, but I don't like it straight. Sriracha is delicious on its own, and hotter to boot

I love cooking with vinegar... almost everything I fix has some kind of vinegar in it if I can help it. And unlike hot sauce, Leslie will actually eat food with vinegar.

I don't use a lot of Tabasco in my food, though. Mostly just made drinks with it, before I quit drinking.

Ugh. Wasabi on sushi is good, but that much smothers the flavor.

Sriracha is hands down the best hot sauce I've ever eaten. It's incredible on Pop-Tarts, at least as long as they're berry-flavored.

If you have a charcoal grill........

Prepare it with lump charcoal for indirect cooking 275

Take your favorite rub, if you buy, try butt rub and put 1/2 cup into a giant plastic bowl.

Add 24 wingettes preferebly air chilled chicken.

Cover and shake to coat.

Add hickory and applewood chunks to charcoal fire. Maintain 275.

Place wings on indirect side of grill, cook for 1 hr.

Take that same container that you cleaned and put your favorite hot sauce in it, 1 1/2 cups, Then take your favorite hot sauce 1/4 cup, then 2 tblspns japanese soy, and 4 tblspoons orange blossom honey... mix well

Take chicken off grill put in this container and shake up..... Put back on grill for 20 mins....

take out and shake up again, cook for another 20 mins.

Serve immediatly....
