12 voted they didn't like him because he's black. At least you crackers are honest.

Except that calling a white person a "cracker" is far more socially acceptable.More or less yes, honkey is another one.
Not really, I don't know any white dood who gets upset at slurs about his whiteness.....

Yeah I never understood that as well. Not really, I don't know any white dood who gets upset at slurs about his whiteness.....
Is it?
Racism of any form is socially unacceptable. I'd be hunted down by the law if i called a white person 'cracker'
I'd be a maytr for freedom in a society like that......
Yes, you notice we can type the word "cracker" out in its entirety. However, you see how everyone says "the 'N' word" rather than typing it out all the way?Is it?

Insecurity, plain and simple.Yeah I never understood that as well.
If someone comes up to me and says "Hey you, cracker!"
I'll simply reply with "That is correct my kind sir! I am indeed white!" and move on.
I guess that's racist of me not to find anything wrong with being white?

We like to switch it up by putting in the other party once in a while. It's sorta fun to see which rights the other party wants to take away when they get in.Meh, its New Labour. 12 years with a majority. It was sort of accepted that this would occur when a same government is holding office for so long.
Hopefully conservatives will reinstall individual liberty.

Polly wants cracker.:rofl
I just asked my friend if she knew what 'cracker' meant after i called her it and she said and i quote "Is that some sort of food"

It evidently refers to someone who cracks a whip. I would imagine that's a uniquely American thing.:rofl

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker_(pejorative)There are various theories concerning the origin of the term "cracker."
The term was in use in Elizabethan times to describe braggarts. The original root of this is the Middle English word crack meaning "entertaining conversation" (one may be said to "crack" a joke); this term and the alternate spelling craic are still in use in Ireland and Scotland. It is documented in Shakespeare's King John (1595): "What cracker is this same that deafs our ears with this abundance of superfluous breath?"
By the 1760s, this term was in use by the English in the British North American colonies to refer to Scots-Irish settlers in the south. A letter to the Earl of Dartmouth reads:
I should explain to your Lordship what is meant by Crackers; a name they have got from being great boasters; they are a lawless set of rascalls on the frontiers of Virginia, Maryland, the Carolinas, and Georgia, who often change their places of abode.
A similar usage was that of Charles Darwin in his introduction to The Origin of Species, to refer to "Virginia squatters" (illegal settlers).[1]
Spaniards in Florida called them "Quáqueros," a corruption of the English word "Quaker," which the Spanish used to contemptuously refer to any Protestant.[2]
Other possible origins of the term are linked to early Florida cattle herders (Florida crackers) that traditionally used whips to herd wild Spanish cattle. These cowboys were distinct from the Spanish vaqueros of Florida. The crack of the herders' whips could be heard for great distances when they were used to round cattle in pens and to keep the cows on a given track. Also, "cracker" has historically been used to refer to those engaged in the low paying job of cracking pecans and other nuts in Georgia and throughout the southeast U.S.
According to the 1911 edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica, it is a term of contempt for the "poor" or "mean whites," particularly of Georgia and Florida. Britannica notes that the term dates back to the American Revolution, and is derived from the cracked corn which formed their staple food.[3] (In British English "mean" is also a term for tightfistedness,[4] with no malice implied.)
Historically the word suggested poor, white rural Americans with little formal education. Historians point out the term originally referred to the strong Scots-Irish of the back country (as opposed to the English of the seacoast). Thus a sociologist reported in 1913: "As the plantations expanded these freed men (formerly bond servants) were pushed further and further back upon the more and more sterile soil. They became 'pinelanders', 'corn-crackers', or 'crackers'." [5]

Can we please get back on topic. I'm getting hungry for some Ritz at this point |
I see you're keeping your streak of ignorance alive and well. I grew up in the south. I grew up working in tobacco fields alongside many blacks. In fact, I'd say a good 70% of my hometown was black. This broad stroke of good ole' boy racism you like to paint the south with is BS. Are there racists down here? Of course. There are also many, many racists up north. The only difference, from my experience, is that the racists down here actually have the balls to admit it. Living in the land of white guilt doesn't endear you to the black community. They're not stupid. They know that racism isn't confined to the south. And what makes you think that using racial slurs toward white people is acceptable? "Reverse racism" doesn't exist, only racism. If you live in the South, I guarantee you did not see as many Obama bumper stickers as those for McCain/Palin. Why? Because anyone considering putting an Obama sticker on their car recognized the car might be vandalized because of their political statement. Even in the Northeast I thought long and hard before putting that sticker on my car. If I lived in the South, it probably would not have been applied. Old time, good-old-boy racism is alive and well in the South, and I suspect we see some of it on this board.
