    Re: Should Sanford resign?

As more and more information keeps coming out about his questionable doings going back to 2001 at least... and his embarassing public statements keep rambling on... more South Carolinians are calling for him to resign.

Investigations are set to begin into the financial aspects of this issue.

South Carolinians tend to expect our leaders to demonstrate some moral restraint in their lives, especially if they stand up as supporting family values. Oddly enough, we believe that if you're going to preach it, you need to practice it; we don't suffer pretenders gladly.

I think it is entirely possible that Sanford will resign within three months. The pressure for him to do so is mounting.

He needs to. He needs to put his own house in order before he's fit to run the State's "house".

And he needs to make up his mind that whether he's going to dump his Argentenian enchilada or his long-suffering wife. He's acting like a lovesick teenager instead of a mature man, and it is embarassing the whole state.

Umm, I work 5 days a week, sometimes 7 days straight.

    A week is 7 days.

5 days of Monday - Friday are a "traditional" workweek.

So if we want to be like THAT, then he really just missed Monday, Tuesday, and part of Wednesday.

Hello? He went AWOL. That is a fireable offense in many jobs. For the Army, it is a crime that can cause you to be dishonorably discharged (which I have personally seen). Also, if you go AWOL, there is a warrant for your arrest. Sorry, Caine, your thinking going AWOL is really no big deal is just plain foolish.

Now you gotta prove that being AWOL (Absent without Leave) has anything to do with the office of the Governor.

Does the Governor earn vacation days?
    At what rate?
Who signs his leave request form?

If it was a Democrat governor, would you have the same defense that they remain in office?

No, I dont' think he's like that for the most part.

Caine, to answer your question, I don't care. I didn't mean to state that what he did was AWOL; rather, what he did was similar to AWOL. Such behavior is incredibly irresponsible. For me, I don't want a governor who goes missing, particularly intentionally, for something as menial as an affair. But that's me.

For the most part he isn't, but he is being one right now.

    Yep.

Its his personal life, stay the **** out.

Unless he was missing while he was actually needed for something important, I see no problem.
