Slavery existed in the colonies prior to the forming of the USA, and while many saw it as a bad thing that had to be eliminated, they knew that it would take some time.

1/6? what study supports that? and whose fault is it?

I think it would also be apt to say that the government that was pro-slavery was the Confederacy, and we all know what happened to them.

Because slavery and it's affects have so much to do with Rush Limbaugh and liberals.

Are you just trolling? Or do you have a relevant point to offer?

Sarcasm is not blocked on the internet, it's an artform on the internet. Some can do it well, others can't.

Nobody should apologize unless he has personally done something to initiate or support slavery.

The plantation slaves and masters are long gone. But we do have "masters" of another kind--people who use or attempt to use force to extract benefits from other people.

For example, state legislators create socialist taxes or spending programs that are patently unconstitutional (making the people slaves to the government). Obama's health care proposals are a good example.
