**** IT UP THE ***!!!
Pretty Bad All Around
Kind of Useful
THE BEST THING EVER!!!
I'd rather have highly partisan Senators who take stands on every issue than a bunch of panty-waists who only know how to vote "Present". If that slows legislation down, even better.
I'll trust a highly opinionated SOB who draws a line in the sand over the smallest of issues, but I'll never trust the Kerryites who vote for something before voting against it.
Someone who's got a wrong opinion is ten times more useful than someone who has no opinion at all.
It's never fun watching Senators argue, but most times its better than the alternative, which is having them not argue.
But what do you expect? I get just as pissed when another company edges me out on a networking bid. I'm mostly a sore loser at heart; it's one reason I make it a point to keep the times I get outfought, outbid, or outdone as infrequent as possible (and even then I'm pissed when I don't get what I want).
There is a difference between being passionate about issues and being partisan. In the former you feel intensely about an issue because of your own morals/values/beliefs/past/etc... In the latter you feel intensely about an issue because it is the position your party has. Personal thinking vs. groupthink.
My feelings about partisanship are pretty well known around the forum. There are few if any who attack it as strongly as I.
"Never fear. Him is here" - Captain Chaos (Dom DeLuise), Cannonball Run
Mace Windu: Then our worst fears have been realized. We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive.
I don't like parties because generally my position is "**** the tribe."
Getting libertarians or skeptics to organize is a bit like herding cats. So whats left are people who immediately activate my selective hearing when they start with "the far left" or any of that partisan tripe.
I just cant stand the hypocrisy of people claiming to have values, but change positions the moment power shifts. And feigned outrage REALLY makes me change channels.
