I smoke marijuana and I'm a pretty useful and industrious individual. I don't speak in surfer platitudes either, so your generalizations about marijuana smokers will be ignored and dismissed as senseless garbage.

Neither Spengler nor Toynbee nor any of the other metahistorians ever got around to figuring it out, but what causes the downfall of civilizations is the fact that civilization, itself, makes it possible for stupid people to live comfortably and to breed uncontrollably until such a time as the sheer weight of such stupidity causes the society to collapse. Civilization is doomed to failure through its own success.

Well, you simply cannot argue with logic like that. Once a society gets fat and happy the people get dumber. Then they pass that on. And dumb people, by definition, do dumb things. Once enough dumb things add up society can no longer function. Like with the U.S. We want a Nanny state, but we don't want to pay for it. So we'll be bankrupt because the stupid people keep electing "leaders" who are more than happy to give the stupid people what the stupid people want. Well done.

Quite well. Took a much needed break from political discussion boards, got the invite to come over here from Catz, and I'm giving it a try. Still working through the thread topics and finding my way around, but Stekim 2.0 is ready to roll. I see lots of old PF folks around here.

That said, I vote for legalization. If someone is going to profit from the colossal uselessness of a sizable portion of the populace, I'd prefer that it were the American taxpayer instead of terrorist criminal gangs.
