Should marijuana be legalized? Why or why not?

Non-smokers: Your views on marijuana

I'm taking a poll to see what people who don't smoke marijuana think of the drug. Like if they think it should be legalized or how harmful they think it is.

I quit smoking cigs a long time ago (thanks to aps nagging like a fishwife). I still smoke the reefers however.

Yes, because if somebody wants to get high it should be no business of mine. Stoned or sober he's still responsible for what he does.

As long as it stays personal business and doesn't cross my side of the right, but yeah, I don't care what people ingest as long as they can control their behavior.

Re: Non-smokers: Your views on marijuana

I don't smoke it. I think it is a filthy, vile habit that turns people into stupid, drooling, useless piles of wasted genetic material and the fact that every single time someone makes the news by doing something extraordinarily retarded with it, an entire network-- a full-blown retardation conspiracy-- comes out in force to defend the living, breathing demonstration of dysgenic breeding by saying things like "dude, harsh" and "wtf its only pot" makes me wish that we'd never stopped spraying every piece of arable land in South America with paraquat on a regular basis.

That said, I vote for legalization. If someone is going to profit from the colossal uselessness of a sizable portion of the populace, I'd prefer that it were the American taxpayer instead of terrorist criminal gangs.

Yes, I have always been for the taxing of stupidity....
It isn't like we can stop anybody from smoking, toking, or drinking....:(

Re: Non-smokers: Your views on marijuana

What is really stupid is spending and wasting millions of dollars in law enforcement to deter marijuana use for the past 50 to 100 years..We seem to have learned nothing from the alcohol prohibition debacle of the 20s....
Those who use this crap may be a bit more intelligent...or maybe one is Bevis, the other Butthead...

Just millions of dollars? I would billions if not trillions per year to fight stupid B S.

Re: Non-smokers: Your views on marijuana

I don't smoke anything, but I think it should be legalized. I know and have known people who use it for relaxation purposes (one even on the supposed advice of his doctor), and I don't see it having nearly the harmful effects (save for the obvious detrimental effects on the lungs) that I see caused by alcohol use.

Should marijuana be legalized? Why or why not?

Yes. It should be regulated like alcohol, the consequences for using while driving should be similar, and it should be taxed. All tax monies and monies saved from the "war on drugs" should be used for the treatment and recovery of addicts.

Yes, I think it should be legal, for the reasons already listed here and because my own observation says that stoned people usually don't cause as many problems as drunk people.

At this point the argument is moot. It is de facto legal in most places. So many people smoke it that the cops won't bother going after people who have a joint on them or are lighting up in public.

Should marijuana be legalized? Why or why not?

As long a s tobacco is, yes.

All the same age restrictions should apply, as well as DUI, public intoxication (or similar) and smoking bans in public places.

Unless he's a loaded football player.

I smoked da ganja for a few years, then just didn't care about doing it anymore. Never smoked, nor will I ever smoke cigs... I say legalize and tax mari jane. There is no way to win that war, so legalize it. The herb isn't any better or worse than booze, in all fairness...

I'd rather be around a stoner than someone who is belligerently drunk.

I don't smoke and am against it. Pot-heads are like they are stuck in "slow-motion" mentally and physically. Sometimes it is frustrating watching them....

I'm not a big pot-head so I don't know about people who smoke every day or even every week, but when I smoke pot, I tend to get very mobile and productive. I can definitely see what you are saying though as I have known potheads who found it difficult to reach across the couch for their bag of funyuns.

Yeah, me too, but there are tons of happy drunks. I was really referring to their ability to drive or make good decisions though...

Me too, when we smoked it was before going out to clubs, or before doing something extreme like downhill mountain biking, snowboarding or self thrashing which is hiking a huge hill or small moutnain and then just charging down with no path to see who gets to the bottom first. Trust me, there is a lot of thrashing...

I smoke cigarettes(and nobody is going to nag me to stop, it's my last remaining vice along with caffeine), and used to get high alot. I am really of two minds on the subject. I think people are much more self-destructive on weed than alcohol(people don't drink much at work, but getting high on breaks does happen), but it's not going to be stopped and prohibition is expensive. I don't think I would really advocate for or against it's legalization, though I would lean towards being against it.

I think it should be legalized because we all need to come together. One love people. light up and be happy...
