It seems the government has a knack for naming Acts that are the exact opposite of what they do so, when I hear Employee Free Choice Act, I assume it means the exact opposite. You would think the government has enough to do but, NO, they want more power.

The right to dictate employment contracts through mandatory "arbitration".

The goonions will have successfully used the power of government to eliminate secret ballots and opened the doors for enhanced intimidation, and the government will have empowered a fried, the goonions, that will be freer to use force to accomplish the desires of the politicians.

The individual will have gained nothing, lost much.

but if the employees have signed forms indicating that at least 50% plus one of them want the union ... the same number required to prevail in a secret ballot ... then the employees have actually lost nothing

meanwhile, the employer has lost the opportunity to harrass and fire and intimidate the employees who are leading the charge for unionization ... which employee organizing activities are protected by federal law (5 USC 7114)

You mean forms with their names on them, so the goonions can identify who hasn't voted for the goonion and thus the goonion can target those people for vandalism, harassing and threatening telephone calls, at three in the morning, for violence, and for other forms of retribution.

WTF do you think a secret ballot is for?

That prelimary stuff? Its supposed to be nothing more than a petition, and the final vote is supposed to be secret so the mobsters that run every goonion can't intimidate the final vote.

and all that is needed to eliminate that union access to know how the workers voted is to now have the department of labor receive the ballots directly from the workers and not thru the union - keeping their selection secret. that is exactly what happens now with the union elections as the DOL is responsible for tallying the secret ballots

from reading these posts it would appear there are lots more employees in this forum than owners. it astounds me that so many employees are willing to give up their right of assembly by opposing this measure
