I have already done it.
I am doing it right now.
I am starting right now.
I'll begin in less than a year.
I'll get ready within 2 years.
I'll take some limited measuers.
I'll wait and see what happens. Then I'll act.
I am not worried. I trust Obama's policies.
I don't care. I'll just accept my fate.

Most of these survivalists are paranoid, they're like the "end of the world" nutballs who keep telling us we have to be ready, but keep being wrong about the world ending. The last thing I'm going to worry about are a bunch of crazies running around like Chicken Little.
Some things keep better than others, and some things are a PITA to prepare.
We have almost no wheat, but lots of rice. Rice is ready to eat, just add water and seasonings and boil. Wheat takes too much preparation, and my stomach doesn't like it anyway. The more whole wheat I eat, the more toilet paper I use.... We do have some cans of white flour, I can handle that. TVP isn't much fun either, I would have to go vegetarian when the real meat runs out. Neighborhood dogs and cats would then be at risk.
Buying from the survival store is expensive, you can get most of the same things in the grocery stores. I like Lipton Rice Sides, and dry soup mixes, to go with the rice. And dry beans last forever.
We could easily go a few months on what we have in the basement....even longer if we had to, but it wouldn't be fun.
