In case someone decides you are a candidate to be person#730
Neither side in an argument can find the truth when both make an absolute claim on it.

They will try to be there, that is if someone can call without getting noticed by the gun wielding fool, and get through to someone, who then sends the call to a dispatcher, who then dispatches the call to the officer, who then has to drive 6 miles through 5:40pm traffic with blue lights and sirens on (that nobody listens to at that time of day) when everyone is packed on the same road and they cops are having to drive half on the median (slowing them down considerably) to get to your location to clean up the mess that is your body laying on the ground and your daughter kidnapped and being raped somewhere by some disgusting vile thing of a thug that you could have shot with your own gun and prevented all this.

If only you took it upon yourself to learn some self defense and firearm safety.
So I should waste my time and money buying a gun and learning how to properly use it, just in case:

    1. Someone randomly breaks into my residence, located in a relatively low-crime neighborhood
    2. I am home at the time.
    3. That person intends to kill or hurt me for no reason.
    4. I am unable to escape from my residence.
    5. I find myself trapped in the one room in my residence where I would otherwise have stored the gun.

Posts like yours are a perfect example of the paranoia this thread is talking about. I think I'll take my chances. But thanks for your concern.

Cain is a cop telling you not to rely on cops to save your life...doesn't that speak to you?

No. It sounds like a paranoid rant to me. There are SO many more likely ways that I could die for which I could prepare. If not owning a gun (and not worrying about being randomly murdered for no reason) makes me a "homo," then sign me up for the Barbara Streisand concert.

Does that also include murder rate because it's already way higher in USA then most other western countries that have stricter gun laws? That maybe it's exist other methods then guns to create a safer society, that you American should look into.

A large part of gun crime in the US are gang related. Most murders in the US are gang vs gang with the highest numbers being black male vs black male.

I hear alot of people that say we should ban guns to fix the issue. The problem I see with this is we already have so many guns in the US that if our citizens did turn their guns over to the government the criminals would not. That would leave your everyday citizen unprotected along with armed criminals.

Another problem is where their is demand their will always be a supply. With legal guns being in both our neighboring countries even if we banned them the thugs could still find a supply.

that is a moronic statistic. here is why-as America legalized concealed carry and millions of more guns were bought in reaction to dem attempts to ban them CRIME WENT DOWN. Yet in England and Australia GUN BANS lead to increases in violent crime.

You gun haters never want to bring freedom in the the mix either.

more than 75% of those who are murderers in the USA have a criminal record prior to committing murder. Interestingly, murder victims have about the same rate of records prior to being killed. If you factor out black drug related crime, Americans have a lower rate of gun violence than almost any euro-nation, In an article discussing columbine, NR compared FBI and Interpol statistics and the evidence showed that white americans had a lower rate of violence than white Englishmen, Germans, French, Scots or Irish

Its not paranoia, its just a "safety net" so to speak.

Its not like the average person who has a gun (or more than one gun) in their home for protection purposes sits around cleaning it and staring out the windows and peeking out the door waiting for someone to break in.
Hell we haven't even went to shoot them in forever because we have kids now and don't have anyone to babysit for us where we live (this place sucks), and they rarely ever leave the place in which they are stored.

You take my sarcasm a little too far apparently.....but at least you are being humorous about it.

Because, as noted, one person in 214 is a victim of a violent crime.
