This was a ten minute police chase in El Monte earlier this week.

A lot of people are claiming it's another case of police brutality (at the end, with the subduing of the criminal).

What do you guys think?

The suspect was lying face down in the dirt. That kick is an assault with intent to injure.

That cop needs to lose his badge and spend 5 years in general population thinking about where he would be if he had not assaulted the suspect.

That cop is scum.

I agree. The man was down and submissive.

We allow the police to get away with too much in the name of police safety. What about the safety of the people?

Yes, the guy broke the law and then ran from them. But then he gave up and laid down. The kick was way over the top.

I called the El Monte police department and inquired about this case.

The badged thug responsible for this attack is still on active duty. He isn't on patrol (he's riding a desk) but he is still on duty being paid to work even after he committed felony assault on a subdued suspect.

That cop is a disgrace to the uniform and he needs to be fired and charged with a crime.

I quite agree. That cop needs to spend 5 years in jail for what he did.

I'd like to see somebody genuinely TRY to justify this inappropriate act of assault.

This is definitely police brutality, no doubt at all.

I spent a couple of years as an LEO and this is completely unacceptable.

It is not the job of an officer to sit in judgement or punish an offender who surrenders.

Yes it was assault. The officer dhould be fired and there should be some sort of trial for that. This is just another case of a cop out of control. It seems that a badge or some authority goes to peoples heads.

He should be sitting behind bars and seeing an anger management counselor.

Wow, I am shocked. I was expecting some ambiguity when I started watching it, but there was none. While I have absolutely zero sympathy for the guy kicked, there is still no excuse for the officer to kick him.

Are you saying this because you've never been subject or known anybody who was subject to police brutality? Or just to be an ass? Don't answer that.

How many peoples lives did he put in risk?

Also is that your idea of brutal?

When it comes to a duly appointed officer of the law, yes it is.

So you think it is the job of the police to punish criminals as well as enforce the law?

How many peoples lives did he put in risk?

Irrelevant. If we say it is OK for one do you really think it would stop at that one?

Oh wait, you live in the UK.

Never mind.

Seems like pretty obvious police brutality to me.
The guy was down and compliant.
Even the second cop is guilty, IMO for bashing him in the back repeatedly.
They idiot criminal was just covering up a bit after getting kicked in the head.

First cop should be fired and fined...

Yes it is.

I figure you live in a place where you don't even have the right to defend yourself. Take that along with your views I figure you do not even understand the concept of basic rights, let alone the consequences of police brutality.

Hehehe. I am from Chicago and moved to Florida 2.5 years ago. Wrong again. :2wave:

No need for personal attacks, just stick to the subject at hand. You asked and I pulled no punches. You don't like it, well nothing I can do for ya.

PS Truth hurts sometimes.

You mean the one I have made 3 or 4 times in this thread? Including the question you asked I answered?

You do realize name calling is the last resort of a limited mind.
