Works for me and I can understand why you feel that way given your views.

I believe we have natural rights that are inalienable and any government that seeks to take them away is illegitimate. I hold this to be an absolute truth. Most atheists I've spoken with reject the notion of absolute truths.
I think that we are born to be free. We give up a portion of our freedoms to a society so that we feel safe and protected. We endow a government to protect our rights. The problem is in most cases government tramples our rights.

And you ask why we don't support Atheists.

Well do you have any real evidence to show me that this god exists? I mean in a real source outside of the bible which can't be used as a source for proof of god.

As I said it is these crude and arrogant attacks, when it isn't even relevant, that makes a lot of us on the religious side have little time for Atheists. You set up this debate which is not primarily not about the validity of religion Vs. Atheism and then you subject our belief systems to quite crude and arrogant attacks.

In my experience this is not a unique, although then again not a necessary, attitude among Atheists and rabid secularists.

I know for me it means nothing. I would rather have a candidate that says he or she is an atheist then a believer. I know this is unlikely to happen in my lifetime here in the US.

To what degree does religion affect the way you vote?
My religion has never and will never affect the way i vote, there is little religion in UK politics

There is more and more religion seeping into the American politic.

Sure there is. You simply don't come across it enough in the liberal media. The Brussels' broadcasting corporation may not report it but don't think for a moment that the average Tory party member is not in some sense still loyal to Christianity and the church.

I don't care where their loyalty is ...
When you are my MP, You represent the constituents. Not your religion.
As far as i am concerned, the second you walk through those chamber doors, you leave your religion on the step.
I liked Blair's approach. Religious but never let it affect his work nor was he showy. That is my type of politican.

MPs are not delegates, they are to give the people their judgment as well as their represenatation.

All people are influenced by their belief systems, secularist Atheistic liberals as well. Christianity and the CoE are bound up with the heritage, tradition, culture and gov't of our society and to try and leave these out is to debase those key attributes of our society. I'd say that the moment you walk through those chamber doors you should bow your head to the lord and remember the place of the church in our society. Church and King as the Tory party's motto has long been should always be in your mind and heart as an MP.

    That says it all.
