My question for the chicken-little is crowd: what do you propose we do about it?

I am still laughing at the hilarity of the video. That is just about as much as I will do about it.

I'm not taking the position that anything can be done about "it", nor am I under the assumption that when "it" happens it will be any different from where & when "it" has happened before.

The stupidity of the above statement is notable but hardly worth any more of a response than this.
Yet, you cannot support your claim. Which part of my statement was stupid? I cannot care because I am dead is a statement of fact and a statement of sarcasm. Fundamental Christians in America often rally to take away the rights of others so how is wanting them to feel what it is like, stupid? It is quite easy to make a claim but, it is quite different to support it, eh? Oh no, I am not stupid, you are silly.

Who cares, I'll be dead.

You said it. Wtf are you talking about?

In the time frame that I could possibly care about (3 maybe four generations) it won't. After that my genes will be so diluted who gives a **** anymore.

Wow, just think of what kind of mess we'd be in now if the founder's of this Nation didn't care about anything more than the next 3 generations of their own genetic lineage?

I don't have their power. I'm truly insignificant.

If I did have that power, I probably would care.

I would add: I probably would care, but not about this issue.

True. I'm talking about caring in general about anything. But I am so insignificant that expending energy worrying about stuff 3 generations from now is utterly pointless. I have precisely 0 ability to impact the nation in any significant fashion.

The best I can do is try to impact that which I can have a significant impact on. Which is a minuscule population of people around me. I put forth my effort trying to help people every single day. To change the world in little ways that make it better.

My thinking is that if EVERYONE took this approach, instead of fruitlessly trying to impact areas that they cannot alter significantly, then the world as a whole will be a better place for everyone.

But I cannot make everyone do this. I can only live my own life and impact the things I can impact. Those around me. That's what I do, and that's how I care.

So do I care about what happens more than 3-4 generations down the line? To a degree, sure. But I won't waste my worries on that when there is so much to worry about that I CAN significantly impact for the better.
