    If someone in your Family

If someone in your family admitted to torturing another human being or animal, would you forgive them?

    Can't find the Poll controlls.

Answer yes or no or not at all.

Assuming you hold yourself responsible for your emotions and the way you feel about things as opposed to blaming others for your feelings.

Animal? I'd be very unhappy, there's never any call for that. Note that I do not deem legitimate scientific inquiry as "torture".

    Human? Depends on why.

Why is there no "other" possibility? I have an answer that is not applicable concerning your options.

With the only options being "yes" or "no", my answer has to be "no". I would not forgive.

(because there would be nothing for me to forgive)

Why would I hold a grudge against someone who has not done anything to me or someone or something I care about? Thats like stupid retarded pc politicians offering apologies (actually they are forcing everyone they represent to apologize since they are a representative of the people. So what ever they do they do on our behalf) to people who are no longer around and people they never did anything wrong to.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

An animal I would only forgive if they understand the sickness and change their evil ways.

A human I suppose It would be the same but they should pay for their crime in a legal manner.

If they tortured someone who was withholding information where someone was being held hostage or the like....then I would help!

Given how my family raised me to respect life, I would probably forgive them, but never trust them again.

    Depends...

Animals are property, what someone does with that property is none of my business. Now if they infringe and hurt someones pet etc then they should pay restitution.

Don't get me wrong, I do love animals. This of course does not change the fact they are not human and have no rights, although laws do exist to protect them in some cases.

You can tell allot about a person or even a society by how they treat animals.

If someone did this to a human I would have to forgive them, this does not mean they can escape punishment for said action.

I don't see how you can put humans and animals into the same boat.

There would be a whole lot of deep questioning as to why they did what they did before I ever got moved to anger toward that would require forgiveness to be an issue.

If it were senseless, things would never be the same again.

If it were for a reason that had noble ends and he had explored other options first, I would not think twice about commending him for it.
