I voted for Obama because he was not McCain. I also supported him because of his campaign rhetoric on ending the conflict in Iraq.

He is still not McCain and his Iraq policy sucks. I will never make the mistake of voting for a major party candidate again. I will go back to voting the socialist come hell or high water. The first time in decades that I get hooked by this.

Not really. He voted for him because of his Iraq exit plan and he wasn't McCain. All it says is that Socialists prefer Obama over McCain, which IMO is a bit weird given McCain's Communist Mortgage refinance plan.

    And the election begins...
"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language...No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." - John Donne

Man you left out way too many choices!

In favor of Barak Obama I'd vote for a turnip casserole, for instance. I'd vote for a mime artist. I'd vote for the patrician of Ankh-Morpork in a blink, and he's a fictional tyrant.

But what if Obama will ballance the budget?

You should of included on the poll that if Obama is sure to not ballance the budget, who would you vote for.

I am still praying that Obama will ballance the budget after the economy recovers. I still have some hope...

    WHAT?!

This President and Congress have shown in less than three months that they will not be restrained in his spending, do not understand basic economics, and are not bound by anything so abstract as a pledge or promise.

Surely, you don't really think that there is any chance at all that this Congress or President will "balance the budget."

    C'mon!

Hey Oftencold! you run away from the other forum from too many liberals? This place is different in that way...

I know they won't ballance the budget NOW, but ive got... idk I just really hope... that they will ballance the budget when the economy comes around again. tax increases on the rich will help for that, and this discretionary bailouts will hopefully dissapear soon. If that is the case, then I may vote for
    Obama

Nerv, The economy isn't going to "come around" under this regime. It's like turning a sheep inside out and hoping for wool!

While the Republicans have become a dwarf version of their former selves, the Democrats have mutated into something pretty much alien to the American systems, political and economic.

They are not "tweaking" the economy. They are not "managing it" (nearly impossible.) They are not even mis-managing it. They are canibalizing it.

I continue to advise any of you living in urban areas to stock up heavily on non-perishable food items.

I will guarantee you that within the next 4 decades -barring a series of ridiculously damaging and implausible events like say the East Coast being completely destroyed by a dirty bomb followed by California getting hit by an immigrant induced earthquake and finally Texas deciding it'll become it's own country - nobody like Ron Paul will ever be elected. Have fun hoping.
