Why would they even want to conquer us?
It would be a passive aggressive act brought on by the U.S. sticking it's nose in the business of the Chinese ancient culture and influencing China's loss of Thaiwan. They have expressed their great disdain for thaiwans dissent in many ways, but we interfear.

The only reason China is interested in increasing their economic status is to be a military contender against the U.S.
This is clearly shown by how they are taking most their profit and puting it toward their military and technology to knock out our satellites.

They know that in a pre-emptive strike which includes simultaniously knocks out our satellites we are instantly on a level playing field.

Uhh a full-scale invasion of a nation of 300 million people is a "passive aggressive act" in retaliation for our interference with a minor territorial dispute which has persisted for 50 years? Seems a bit drastic...and far-fetched.

And you base that on what? Perhaps the Chinese have the same motives for economic development as everyone else: They don't want to be in poverty.

China's military budget is about 6% of the United States' military budget, despite having a GDP (purchasing power parity) that is nearly 50% of the United States.

Why would China want to knock out our satellites? That would royally screw them over too.

Haven't you heard of their successful tests in knocking out satellites with rockets. Exactly how many reasons can you give for this that don't include hitting down our satellites?

Off the top of my head...six.
    1. Hitting someone else's satellites, 2. Just trying a provocation to see how the US will respond, 3. Hitting specific satellites rather than trying to hit them ALL, 4. Demonstrating to the world that China is now a space power (for acceptance), 5. Demonstrating to their own people that China is now a space power (for pride), 6. To see if it works as a precursor to future space technology.

And let's not forget that the United States has this technology too, but it doesn't mean that we're going to start shooting down Chinese satellites.

What would the U.S.'s attitude be toward China if Hawaii and Alaska seperated from the U.S. and became communist mainly due to China's influence and backing?

Uhh we'd probably be pissed off. But a few differences: 1) This dispute has been going on for 50 years...it's not like the US suddenly took Taiwan away from China, 2) Taiwan didn't change governments...the mainland did, 3) The US hasn't done much to provoke China...in fact it has discouraged Taiwan from declaring independence.

The Taiwan dispute will eventually resolve itself. I find it highly unlikely that THIS is the conflict that we need to be worried about. There are at least six or seven other conflicts higher up on my list of things to worry about.

Whatever the international community has against us, it wouldn't do to almost any of them, I think, were we to be destroyed. I mean, hell is for heroes - it would just crystallize what we were about.

In order to see the end of us, they need to prove to us that we aren't what we think we are - that for instance the revolution was the irresponsible, greed-fueled act of slave-owners, and thank god it could never happen, let alone need to today.

It might sound like paranoia but that's how I think it will go down if it does.

Some unnamed poster from this board will get appointed president like Bush 43 did. Then they will proceeded to hit the red button to nuke the liberal scum in this nation.

Ooh ooh, pick me, pick me.....

Actually I think the only way America loses its status as a world power, is by becoming more concerned with domestic/internal affairs, at the cost of withdrawing our presence elsewhere in the world.

Basically it would take a government with the foreign policy of Ron Paul, and the domestic policy of our current democrats to bring down this bull. We are halfway there....
