Is controversial to be for gay marriage or against gay marriage?

Which is controversial support for gay marriage or support for traditional marriage?

It depends on who has what opinion. It would be quite controversial for Pope Benedict to come out in favor of Gay marriage, and conversely, it would be just as controversial for Elton John to come out against it.

So to me, it depends on the situation.

For the most part, I'd say neither stance is controversial. But in teh right circumstances, they can be equally controversial.

Well its certainly not something I would bring up over a business lunch. ;)

Men and women contemplating should be happy and gay; but in these screwball times, this is nigh impossible...
No vote as usual.
We do need real men to stand up and not support any homosexual marriage..
Our nation has many more important things to handle..
The drug problem
The crime problem
unemployment
education
oil
environmentalists
skin-heads
nazis
criminal gangs
budget deficit
trade imbalance
This homosexual thing should be swept under the rug and placed in the trash can...

Funny. That's how I feel about heterosexuals that show a complete lack of awareness that there are homosexuals around them...

Sorry, that line sounds like the plot of a terrible B-movie.

"Homosexuals Among Us"

Starring Eric Roberts and Dean Cane.

There should be a poll result for "I dont care"

Marriage is an agent of socialization, not a mere "civil contract".

The legal aspect is tertiary at best.

We're discussing the legal aspects of marriage, ie, the government's roel therein, correct?

No one cares if gays love each other or not. I kinda presume that's part of the reason they want to get married, they're suffering temporary insanity, just like what happens to normal people bitten by the love bug.

The religious aspect doesn't matter, not a bitten fingernail's worth, it doesn't.

The whole public debate is over the legality of marriage for same sex couples.

I voted "being against gay marriage is controversial", because those who think that homosexuals shouldn't have the right to marry are denying a significant portion of our population the right to a nasty divorce, which is un-American. It's my belief that every US citizen - heterosexual or homosexual - should have the right to marry the partner of their choosing, then watch as the partner they married glues their ass to the couch watching American Idol reruns and consumes large portions of Chunky Munky ice cream while doing so. The gym? Hah! That's for single people and folks who mistakenly believe "washboard" is a term used to describe a well-defined stomach, not a place where your significant other's dirty laundry remains piled up until a HAZMAT team has to come in and start disposing of it.

So what if your partner gains 200 pounds after the wedding? Welcome to married-ville, population, YOU! And as we all come to realize, sleeping with 20-somethings with hot bodies is SO overrated, not to mention unchallenging and wimpy. I mean, anyone can lust after a young hottie, but it takes a strong married person with an iron constitution to avoid the gag reflex as they watch their partner undress. Wild sex? Single people have all these crazy ideas and know hundreds of sexual positions. Married people realize that crazy sex is foolish and could possibly wake the children, and they only have two sexual positions (one of which their partner doesn't even have to be there for).

So yeah, you get the idea. Denying homosexuals access to this most treasured institution is highly controversial. My married friend Oscar said it best: "Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is the same."
