I'm still trying to figure this out. Are these tea parties to protest the stimulus package?
They are just having their teabagging parties to protest anything and everything they want to bitch about, whether its taxes, the stimulus, socialism, abortion, evolution.... you name it, if it has anything to do with modernity, they will be be protesting it.
Of course, what is the ultimate in hypocrisy about it is that they are protesting spending and socialism, and probably a third or more of them are on social security and medicare (pure socialism), the taxes in place now are all Bush Administration levels, and most of them live in states that get far more money back in federal spending (pork) then they pay in income taxes. That would especially be true of the south.
So basically, most are protesting for the exact opposite reason's of the Boston Tea Party. In fact, being that Massachusetts pays in federal taxes far more than it gets back, should they have another real tea party, they would be protesting all those welfare queen red states living off of their federal tax dollars.
I'll be there. In the South. My signs have to do with spending and ridding the government of special-interest-corrupted incumbents.
I'm sorry you're so off the mark, SD. I thought you to be more intelligent than that. However, I guess when you're not involved in it, it might be hard to understand what is happening. I helped organize mine. Every single person involved in organizing, as well as every single person I have invited, as well as all of our guest speakers, are working class people. We're not disjointed at all. In fact, I've attended more meetings in the past month than I have in the past several years. We're very clear about our message and purpose. For the non-working crowd, we are holding a food drive with our event. I don't expect to see too many on Medicare. I, personally, have told my dad to stay home. See, most of those Medicare-aged folks would have trouble walking over a mile from their car to the protest, and then standing for three or four hours during the event. Parking is an issue at most of these events since they have grown so large, practically overnight. We had one in my area and it has morphed into four in the past two weeks, to accommodate the number of people expected.
Gabby--Is there a common theme that I'm not seeing? What exactly is being protested?
Another hate-filled partisan rant from SD. You really are a piece of work! They are just having their teabagging parties to protest anything and everything they want to bitch about, whether its taxes, the stimulus, socialism, abortion, evolution.... you name it, if it has anything to do with modernity, they will be be protesting it.

I personally like his arbritary 1/3 of them will be on government assistance line. Its nice to think things.

I think you must have a hard time distinguishing between hate filled rants and someone just being a smart ass or engaging in sarcasm. Maybe this is due to some lack of self-deprecating humor on your part as a conservative or something.
You should lay off the personal attacks though. I was not personally attacking you as a conservative or anything, I was just being a smart ass. I am sorry, but just like there is that whinny, annoying, peta..ultra-greenie wing of the Democratic Party, there is also a deliverance wing of the Republican Party that people are going to make fun of. Just like people make fun of the loons that spend a year in the top of a tree to keep it from being cut down. If you are not part of the "deliverance wing" of the Republican Party, and I don't gather you are, then I am not sure why you are taking such a personal offense when someone makes a sarcastic remark about them. I mean do you really identify that much with this guy:

Ah, so when you were answering a question about the protests and why "they" (the protesters) were attending you really were referring to a small portion of the attendees. You just forgot to mention that til now. Gotcha. I don't know how we all missed that.
I certainly can laugh at myself or other conservatives when the humor is actually FUNNY.
Nah, your posts aren't partisan at all! :roll:Hardly, when you add up all the attendees that are in states that get back in federal spending more than they actually pay in taxes, add in all the attendees drawing social security and medicare, and you probably have a majority of the attendees.
Face it, good protesting is simply the province of peaceniks, naive college students living off their parents, loons from peta, and hard core leftists that wish they were hippies (basically, people that don't work and thus have time for it). You right wingers have never gotten the hang of it to do it right.
