We do have some arrogant leadership and have so for years, but, that's for a different thread.
i think the question originally meant the general thought of country...

That's the problem, the statement assumes that we know how the general populace feels more than the general populace itself. Obama doesn't seem to be able to differentiate the patriots from the nationalists, and it was extremely arrogant of him to assume the duty of apologizing on the behalf of this nation for things many of us feel we haven't done wrong.
Neither side in an argument can find the truth when both make an absolute claim on it.

so whats the difference between nationalists and patriots?

so an arrogant country has an arrogant president. haha. i guess it kinda fits.
but perhaps he was just trying to make peace with whomever he was apoligizing to.
"i imagine at one time leadership meant having muscle, but in this day in age it means getting along with others." -i dont know who said it. =/

The simplest definition is that a patriot loves their country for what it stands for, genuinly loves it's people, but is willing to accept that it has faults. A nationalist blindly follows a government, not necessarily loves the country, but has the attitude that their government cannot do anything wrong and/or does things better than anyone else simply because it is their government, which is based in misplaced pride and arrogance.

It is a funny fit from an ironic standpoint.
but perhaps he was just trying to make peace with whomever he was apoligizing to.
Perhaps, but it wasn't a good move to make, especially considering he is still in his first term, not even out of the "honeymoon" period that presidents typically enjoy in their first hundred days.

I don't remember it either, but it is not accurate in my opinion. All leaders have to be strong in some form or another, it's how your strength is applied and who against that makes all the difference in the world, I see Obama as a wimp when it comes to representing us, and to me he uses his power against some of those that he is supposed to be leading.
