WHICH ONE IS BETTER will be a contest, that will be made in many threads, each poll has two options, you have to choose which president is better, so, in the first poll, we will have Barack Obama (USA) and Stephen Harper (Canada). Choose the best.

sorry, I forgot to put the date of ending of the poll, I will take results in two exact days.

I voted for Stephen Harper.

Well... Stephen Harper is a prime minister not a president... that aside though...

I vote for both... they both lose.

Neither of them acts on behalf of the will of the people, the ONLY difference between the two is that while Stephen Harper is the Queen of englands b****, Obama is the b**** of the big bankers.

In other words, neither of them is little more than window dressing for the people that really control things.

You are right, is not a president, sorry. Mmm, I don0t know the word in english to describe what they are, is Boss of State?

They are like the managers of the country... you can deal with the manager and he might be able to solve some problems... but if the end product is flawed there is little that the manager can do, since he must work within the confines of what the franchise OWNERS provide for them.

Don't know Steve Harper.

He's not Obama, he must be better, I suppose.

Taxpayers? If not, you're talking about large corporations, I suppose, and Obama certainly isn't in their service; don't you people always complain about the reverse arrangement?

How do you figure that he's NOT in their service??

Let's say you as an individual donated 100$ to Obama's campaign... does that give you more of a voice than even the average voter?? Whereas Morgan Stanley and Morgan Sachs EACH donated no less than 200 000$ to Obama's campaign (and no less than 100k$ to McCain) (I'm saying like that to avoid looking for the specific sources again).

Now look at the 'bailouts' how many times have YOU been bailed out?? Compare that to how much these big banks received. Oh yes, Obama tells you he loves you ... much like a shephard will tell his sheep he loves him as he shears it of all it's fur.

Probably "head of state" would be a good choice, at least it's descriptive.

There not being an option for "none of the above" I am unable to participate in the poll.

Well, Stephen Harper started from a better starting point, and he certainly deserves credit for helping to maintain sensible banking regulations that have helped Canada largely escape the financial mess that's embroiled the rest of the world. But Barack Obama is doing much more to actively improve his country than Harper.

I picked Obama.

I picked Obama.

Care to elaborate on that?? Cause from my perspective, Obama aims to massively increase the size of government, massively increase the money supply (through bailouts and eventual monetization of the debt, which = hyper-inflation), and overall establish more power and control of government over the people.

Thanks.

The problem with the question is not your intent. Since the jobs of Prime Minister and President are different, any answer for or against either option will inherently carry an opinion of how well the respective political structure itself works.

The question does not allow all things to be equal, so a true comparison can not be made.

For example, if one is needed, a Queen can exorcize royal prerogative
and bypass the Prime Minister and Parliament completely to issue a decree.

In America the First Lady is the closest thing to a queen, and holds no Executive power of any kind. The President and Congress can never be bypassed by the First Lady for anything more important then decorations and seat assignments.

Also, the President is not a member of Congress, whereas a Prime Minister is still a member of Parliament.
