    Tattooing = criminal element
    And these mentally ill so-called "parents" want to brand their offspring for life ???
    Its bad enough that some teach their children hatred and intolerance for 18 years which is even worse than branding..

    tattooing =/= criminal element. Some criminals have them, but having a tattoo doesn't make you a criminal. I know several scientists with tattoos, including myself.

    Its not really a big deal. Sure having a lasting impression from your parents stupidity isn't great, but not worth getting the government involved. Parents can do much worse things to screw up their kids than give them a tattoo, but its not reasonable or possible to draw the states interest.

    Meh... wouldn't let me post a poll. Oh well.
    Personally, I'd be more concerned that you would characterize your child as being "less ugly" with or without ink.

    I would never recommend tattooing a child, as tattoos are typically a permanent mode of self-expression, but the final decision is and should be the parents' to make.

    As for genital mutiliation--circumcision is, strictly speaking, exactly that, and thus is a common practice.

    Tattoos are not "criminal", nor do they signify anything "criminal".

    Your statements are categorically and completely wrong.

    (BTW--branding is also not "criminal", and is quite popular in certain circles).

People aren't going to see circumcision as comparable to tattooing because of the whole BS "medical reasoning" argument.

    Just sayin'

    P.S. If this didn't stem form the circumcision thread, my bad.
    Indeed, you are correct. Tattoos were just on my brain because I'm busy looking at designs for my next couple.

    Children's bodies aren't billboards or canvasses for their parents' misguided artistic endeavors.

    It's bad enough their minds get rotted with socialism and other religions when they're young, there's no valid reason to allow them to be physically disfigured as well.

    There is no right or wrong answer to this. It's strictly a cultural issue. Nothing more. Nothing less.

    I'm fine with children getting tattooed, as long as they sign a consent form...
