A lot of people on dope get disability from social security, and that is just not right.

Well, if their drug habit's so bad that they can't work, it's either put them on Disability or execute them. We can't have them dying in the street.

I'm fully in support of rehab... but rehab programs ain't free, and about the only way most junkies can afford it is Medicare. How do you qualify for Medicare? You collect Social Security.

Quick question. Are you using junkie as a term for all drug users? Or just the ones on hard drugs like meth, crack &/or heroin? In any case I don't think people addicted to hard drugs should get disability. What would that even accomplish anyways? Most 'junkies'. Real junkies. Are so far removed from any society involvement that doesn't involve drugs that this wouldn't do much. In my experience overwhelming majority of crack addicts live in the streets and are invisible on the grid for the most part. So what would this accomplish?

This seems detailed enough to come from personal experience.

Are we blaming the substance which a junkie is using, or the fact that the junkie is a junkie; intentions behind, reasoning, etc

I think it is a matter of substance, and should be dealt with as such. I'll admit, I love my caffeine, and I could consider myself a caffeine junkie. But nobody is going to put me down for it.

I hate to break it to you guys but lots of federal programs already consider addicts disabled.
And why does your tone suggest that you do not care about children?

Can't answer the poll because my answer is both yes and no.

While junkies may be considered to be disabled, nobody put a gun to their heads and made them take that first shot. My recommendation? Give them treatment, but give it to them in prison.

What are we going to do? Put a thousand dollar disability check into a drug addicts bank account every month?

We need to figure out what makes someone kick the addiction. Europe has had success.
