Was Rush Limbaugh a G.W. Bush supporter throughout his Presidency?

This subject has been the discussion of some intense debate in this thread.. On the one hand you have folks like myself who believe that Rush Limbaugh was a staunch supporter of GWB throughout the Presidency. On the other hand you have guys like Reverend Hell Hound who claim Rush was critical of Bush on numerous issues and even highly critical of him towards the end. We absolutely found no common ground on this issue.

Based upon what you know of Limbaugh, what do you feel best classifies his position with regard to supporting or criticizing Bush? Or possibly an alternate position. Please take the time to type just a few sentences explaining how you reached your decision.

Mine is obviously that Rush Limbaugh supported Bush from start to finish. Despite claims that he was critical of Bush on many issues, I have yet to see evidence of this. I can't find any evidence that paints Rush as remotely a Bush critic. Has Limbaugh expressed disagreement with Bush on certain issues...sure, he's spoken out against certain legislation, the government, and even the Republican Party. But I've found really nothing in which he directly confronts Bush for his actions and holds him accountable for decisions Rush didn't agree with (during the Presidency).

I'm not sure if he was or not but I'm not sure a poll settles the issue.

Of course it doesn't settle the issue. I'm merely seeking opinions of other DP members here and their reasoning behind their opinion. Nothing more. In the end the poll could clearly show that I'm out on an island, which is something I wouldn't like to find out. But it is what it is I guess.

This phone call suggests a warm mutual regard over many years and if there have been points of disagreement it seems they weren't major.

I was a huge Rush fan at one time. I listened to him through most of Bushes first term and some of his second.

He may have disagreed with President Bushes policy's at times, but he never stopped supporting the President at all.

How often did you listen to Limbaugh during the Bush Administration?

The premise of this thread does not match the scope of the previous discussion...

Like I said in the other thread.

It was said he was essentially lock step with Bush. My contention and I backed it up with links to which you said I provided "no evidence" was that he was at times critical of Bush, and highly so of the bailouts.

Anyway once again I will show you the "no evidence" I provided.

He was not in agreement with Bush on:

    Immigration
    Bail outs
    patriotism
    Assault Weapons ban

I clearly demonstrated several issues in which Rush disagreed with Bush.

Of course Rush is a Bush supporter, that was never the argument. The argument was whether he was ever critical of him or not.

Re: Was Rush Limbaugh a G.W. Bush supporter throughout his Presidency?

In general, Rush supported Bush throughout the presidency.

That does not mean he was a mindless drone that never spoke up.

He did disagree with Bush pointedly on Immigration. He routinely would bring up perscription drug as a point where he disagreed with the President and his administration. He disagreed with how he handled NCLB. And towards the end he even pointed out that in general Bush was not a rock ribbed conservative.

Did he disagree with him or attack his positions as venomously as he did Democrats? No. Is that a surprise? No. Look on this website. In general, find a liberal or conservative that is as venomous against someone in their party that does something they disagree with and someone in the other party. Save for a select few like Dana you won't find it.

Screaming "Prove it" however is a rather weak defense on this when you're talking about a show on 200+ days a year, for 3 hours a day, for 8 years of this presidency. All of Rush's transcripts are not easily accessed by the public. Idiotic partisan people who parade that they're non-partisan like Media Matters only documents things (generally misquoted or out of context) that Rush says that they don't like, not things they agree with like condemnations of the President for the most part.

Did Rush support the Bush Presidency? Yes.

Did he agree with everything Bush did? No.

Did he feel that Bush was an ideal conservative? No.
