Josy Wales with a walker.

Josey Wales was one of his best.

Best line from that movie: When the tonic salesman is giving his pitch on how the tonic can do just about anything, Josey spits his tobacco on the guys white suit and says "How's it at gettin' out stains?"

The Westerns of that era have some of the best comic lines of all time.

Classic, classic comedy.

Or imagine if a movie had a joke like "History of the World Part I" did when, after becoming aroused by the dancing girl, Josephus was told "The jig is up" and he responded "And gone!"....

That's just funny **** right there.

That is true. You'll never see All in the Family again either.

I can agree with this.

I've never heard of it. Is it any good?

I'm not American comedies or sitcoms greatest fan(look what they did to the Office!:doh) but there are some gems out there like Cheers, Seinfeld and Frasier.

All in the Family was great. It was an American adaptation of "Till Death do us Part" the old BBC show in the 60's.

Really, that is one of those classic comedies in Britain. I didn't like it too much though, I prefer Dad's army and Ronnie Barker's stuff.

All in the Family is a classic US comedy. I liked it better than Till Death, myself.

I think the best BBC comedy of all time that would never fly in the US is Father Ted. No way that'd get airtime on network TV out here.

How come?

Father Ted is brilliant. It must be about one of my favourite sitcoms along with Red dwarf, Only fools and horses, Teachers, The Vicar of Dibley and of course Blackadder, which is the best sitcom ever.

It is brilliant, but I don't think the US is ready for Father Jack.

Ah Father Jack with the possible exception of Baldrick, Trigger and Lord Flasheart, he has to be one of the funniest single sitcom characters ever. Dougal is pretty hilarious himself.

Bishops love Sci fi!

On a slightly related topic I've always wondered if they have sketch shows in the US like Monty Python, The Fastshow and Harry Enfield and chums. I can't actually think of a single American sketch show I've seen. I know they must do them but none have reached these shores.

Man I can't believe I left Men behaving badly off the list.

People who have to find humor in racial jokes are the same type of individuals who resort to fart humor to find their enjoyment.

There is plenty of humor available today that has nothing to do and everything to do with "political correctness".

I don't care who you are. The Whoopie cushion is the greatest invention ever.

Ever.

The American "The Office" is great though. Steve Carell is a great actor, it is the only show I watch with any regularity.

Used to watch some Brit comedies like "Are you being served" and "Faulty Towers" but it's been a long time since I've seen those.

Man you have to learn to laugh at yourself and others.

Get over the race thing.

There is humor to be found in each unique culture. There just is. And humor is a good way to ease tensions between cultures.

I'm Gonna Git You Sucka wasn't funny? My Big Fat Greek Wedding wasn't funny?

I thought it was going to be dumb but it was pretty freaking funny.

Thug: "What you lookin' at old man?"
Walt Kowalski: "Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have messed with? That's me."

Gangbanger: "Why don't you just go inside, old man?"
Clint (with Garand): "Why don't I blow a hole in your face, then I'll go inside."

Not bad, but not even close to the best one:

[gangster kid says something menacing to Clint Eastwood]
Eastwood: "I fought in the Korean War. We used people like you for sandbags."

I was trying to find the exact quote for that but couldn't. :2wave:

It was a great movie though, and I thought Clint was getting soft geesh.

I'm not a great fan of the American office I must say. It isn't bad but tt seems to lack that off-beat, ironic and different kind of humour that the English one had and is more just a regular comedy show.

I find it funny that only certain races and ethnicities are off-limits. You can make fun of the Irish or French or English or even Asians but never blacks. Strange.

The stupidity of Michael Scott is what makes me laugh the most.
You want to like him and when he does dumb things it makes you want to :doh.

Generally over here I've noticed that its open season on Whites and to an extent Asians but everyone else is very taboo.

Part of my family comes from Israel and I can laugh at most Jew jokes.
