Eastwood thinks political correctness has made society humourless - Yahoo! India News

"People have lost their sense of humour. In former times we constantly made jokes about different races. You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth or you will be insulted as a racist," ...
"I find that ridiculous. ... but we didn't think anything of it or have a racist thought. It was just normal that we made jokes based on our nationality or ethnicity. That was never a problem. I don't want to be politically correct.

We're all spending too much time and energy trying to be politically correct about everything," he added.

What's Clint's beef? Did Gran Torino get a lot of flack or something?

He got a lot of beef here:

Clint's Wikipedia said:
2006, Eastwood directed two films about the battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. The first one, Flags of Our Fathers, focused on the men who raised the American flag on top of Mount Suribachi. The second one, Letters from Iwo Jima, dealt with the tactics of the Japanese soldiers on the island and the letters they wrote to family members. Both films were highly praised by critics and garnered several Oscar nominations, including Best Director and Best Picture for Letters from Iwo Jima. Director Spike Lee accused Eastwood of not including a single black person in the films. Eastwood responded that Lee was inaccurate, and that Lee "should shut his face."[18]

Clint is right. This racist crap has gone way too far. Al Sharpton has made a career off of it.

I have to see Gran Torino.

Do it. While not on the level of The Unforgiven, Clint Eastwood really knows how to tell a story that is both straightforward and multilayered.

Huh. Weren't units in WWII segregated? Even if there weren't a black face throughout all the films, it would hardly be all that surprising either.

They were, and I do not think any of the few black combat units were at Iwo.

But, if you're Spike, you don't ket historical accuracy get in the way of personal agenda.

Did the Marine Corps have black combat units during WWII? I know the Army did, but am unsure about the USMC.

Everyone knows clint refuses to cast blacks in prominent roles in his film. Just look at Bird....

No, forget that. My bad.

I meant to say Unforgiven.....

****, forget that one too.

True Crime then....

****... nevermind.

I will never forgive him for Unforgiven.....

In what bizzaro world does Spike Lee live in where he has some kind of significance when compared to Clint Eastwood?

Clint could probably beat him to death with his flinty grimace

I have to see Gran Torino.

I thought it was going to be dumb but it was pretty freaking funny.

Thug: "What you lookin' at old man?"
Walt Kowalski: "Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have messed with? That's me."

Gangbanger: "Why don't you just go inside, old man?"
Clint (with Garand): "Why don't I blow a hole in your face, then I'll go inside."

The Clintster is a so-so actor but a great director.
I fully agree with him on this political correctness sickness that that permeated our nation..we need to throw this crap away..
Again, Clint Eastwood - BRAVO !:agree

Clint is right, of course.

Its too bad nobody could make a movie like Mel Brook's Blazing Saddles these days.

Classic, classic comedy.

Or imagine if a movie had a joke like "History of the World Part I" did when, after becoming aroused by the dancing girl, Josephus was told "The jig is up" and he responded "And gone!"....

That's just funny **** right there.

 that was a great movie. Are you sure the right dvd was in the case?

I saw it in the theater. I was stoked to see it. I left disappointed. I can see why people liked it. I just thought it was really slow.
