You know, I bet if McCain had won the election, and unveiled this ambitiuos spending plan with little or no tax increase, nobody would be saying "its ok, in a recession". Rather the response would be about the irresponsibilities of the GOP, once again. And those responses would be correct, just as they would be correct about the democrats, with Obama in office. Partisanship ruins, what should be universal condemnation of this outrageous amount of spending.
McCain would not have done it though. He would have had the same economic ideologues setting his economic policy that Bush had. Thus we would have seen more supply side economics in action. Right now they would be arguing that much of government would have to be privatized due to the current huge deficits and looking to sell Yellowstone off to a gated community developer.
The point is that Obama is practicing Keynesian Economics with his stimulus, Republican don't. It's heresy to them.
