    Simply put....killing people.

More importantly, killing people in defense. Defense of ones self, or defense of the people if a government becomes tyrannical.

Hunting, sport shooting, etc, are all things guns are used for. But the 2nd amenmdent wasn't put in to assure people the right to go shoot deer.

Because in the lead up to the revolution, the British were going around and taking guns away from people. Same reason we have the 3rd.

All of the above really. But more importantly, because we the people have the right to defense no matter what the circumstances.

Civilian criminals, Federal Criminals, You name it, we have the RIGHT to defend ourselves from it, and Firearms are and always have been static to that defense.

It's a check on the Government. Self-defense is b.s., if someone really wanted to kill you they would have no problem.

The medium of death means very little to society. It is the intention behind murder.
If I really truly wanted to kill someone, and there were no guns in the world, then I would find another way to do it.
