Jindal is an asset to the party, and yes, the face of it too.
I agree. And I hope we does well. His future is yet to be written. But my references were all in the context of his oratory skills and chrisma in comparison to Oblama's.

But I remember similar talk when Obama first hit the scene several years ago as the future democrat goldenchild and lo and behold...

Jindal may the GOP's next golden child for sure. But, if he is, they are, as they say in Louisiana, "in a heap o' trouble boy."

Yeah, Obama's gonna really have to screw things up to ever let Jindal take his chair. Obama can talk his way out of a tied-up toesack.

Yeah, I'm sure he would shove some wedge issue to the forefront. Either abortion, or gay marriage, or gerbils, or something. Anything to keep the focus off of those boring issues like education, infrastructure, health care, job exportation, environment, equal rights and all that other pesky stuff that keeps getting in the way.

Or maybe, just maybe, the Michael Jackson will get charged in a Bahrain Islamic court for child molesting and we all will turn our thoughts away from these mundane issues altogether.

That abortion was not acceptable 100 years ago says about as much about the support for it as homosexuality not being acceptable in Iran. Sure. It might not be acceptable because the people in charge are religious fundamentalists. But that doesn't mean there aren't millions of Iranians who do not care about whether a person is homosexual and thousands of gay Iranians just waiting to get out of the closet.

There are plenty of rich Iranians who are well out of the closet.

When Jindal runs for the GOP nomination in 2012 he is going to hope that this performance is deeply buried.

Wasn't Palin called the "New Face of the GOP?"

It's rather hard to call anyone the new face when the GOP itself doesn't know what it is.

Just having a new face does not win you converts anyway. I remember when David Duke was "the new face of the Klan". You can have who ever you want as your poster boy, if your ideas are bad, they are bad regardless of who promotes them.

What the GOP needs is new ideas.

Listen, the dude is absolutely mind-bogglingly earth-shatteringly brilliant. He was a Rhodes Scholar who was accepted at Yale Law School and Harvard Medical School and turned them both down. I have no qualms about saying that he's probably one of the most brilliant people in the country, let alone in politics. It's just a shame that he had to be so public about something that will obviously cast a shadow over any future ambitions he has.
