Don't like the bill
Don't like the way it was passed.

If this bill helps then I would be glad, but I am not going to hold my breath--
This bill COULD be better if there was Bipartisanship on it, however, Pelosi played like a stubborn child.

You know what? I posted this today. TODAY:

http://www.debatepolitics.com/1057923754-post200.html

At that time, on Barack Obama's Change.gov website, this was still visible:

End the Practice of Writing Legislation Behind Closed Doors: As president, Barack Obama will restore the American people's trust in their government by making government more open and transparent. Obama will work to reform congressional rules to require all legislative sessions, including committee mark-ups and conference committees, to be conducted in public. By making these practices public, the American people will be able to hold their leaders accountable for wasteful spending and lawmakers won't be able to slip favors for lobbyists into bills at the last minute.

This passage disappeared into the ether . . . today.

I don't know what your "day" is in relation to my "day", as it seems I am in a different time zone.

I seriously do not think that Obama has very much control of Nancy Pelosi and those goons within the Democratic party who have decided to party without the Republicans.

I think Obama needs to seriously do something about this, and save himself some embarrassment; however, I think there is a fear in the administration that it would show a rift in the Democrat party.

I would respect Obama standing up to that slag and the perception of a rift over him simply allowing goonish tactics like what were played here today.

I seriously think Pelosi's head on a pike would be the only satisfactory response.

you would respect it. But the G.O.P would not sit idle and not mistake an opportunity to retake some seats.

...
can we please find a way to rid ourselves of Pelosi? She has to be soliciting gay sex somewhere.

She is Obama's Cheney. I had bad feelings when she became speaker and I had worse feelings when Obama won the election and they were mostly over her and Reid. Mainly her.

She's a spoiled little **** and she will ruin this country if she doesn't get rubbed out by a scandal or some other lucky twist of fate like a plane crash.

The house and senate are already at the bottom of the barrel in terms of being morally bankrupt...I still have dispicable memories of Ted Kennedy's treatment of our past president...

Anyone in the political platform should show public respect to any president and use the votes to show their opinions...this country is an embarrassment and becoming a good example of what any communist country would not want to become

Don't like the bill, LOVE the way it passed.

there is no one to blame for the mess it is going to cause but Obama and the Dems.

I do not like the bill I do not like how it was passed. They used this "oh no the sky is gonna fall" tactic to try to rush it passing in order to sneak in as much pork and unrelated spending as possible and before there is really any serious debate on whether or not we really need this bill.

Didn't think of it that way, but my guess is when the walls come tumbling down, the press will conveniently forget that the Dems passed this one.

All the Patriot Act naysayers condemned our government for "pushing" that bill through, without reading it(and rightfully so). The exact same thing has happened here. A knee jerk reaction, quick passage, and ambiguity about how this bill will actually stimulate the economy.

Here I am!! Sorry, don't visit here often enough :) I like the bill. I think we should have spent more on job creation. I think the dems may have made a show of being bipartisan, with little substance behind it. I believe that all of you conservatives deserve to be represented by the government, and that your representation was probably shut out of this process.

I am very liberal, but I don't agree that a liberal government is what this country needs, until the country is more liberal.

I am wondering, though... The original bill was cut by 25% and more tax cuts were added. What do you think the outcome would have been if there had been more substance to the bipartisanship? No bill? That would have been a Republican victory. No Spending, all tax cuts? That would still have been much more of a Republican victory than a Democratic one.

I find it interesting that people are complaining about not being able to read this bill yet have an opinion on it.

It's a complete disaster. I was encouraged when Obama said he was going to change the way the last half of the original $700 billion bill was spent, Bush entirely screwed it up and just handed out money willy-nilly with no strings attached. However, this new disaster is just a pork-barrel mess, the majority of which will never help anyone or create any jobs.

Mindlessly throwing money at problems doesn't make the problems go away.

No one said they couldn't read it. Where do you get that from?

There wasn't time to read it thoroughly and debate it before the vote.

I'm sorry. I should have said read it thoroughly.

It is pretty impressive how quiet a large number of them have been about this whole thing. Big thanks to those who have participated.
