Anyhow I always separate this into two parts. One is what I think in a logical way, and two is what I believe.

See what you think can include what you have been taught, or have learned to believe over time, but what you actually believe is what you feel in your heart or soul that is of a more personal nature.

    What I think is first.

Lets start out with accepting that everything we see, hear, touch, feel, taste etc is part of our basic human senses that we all normally have and understand. Then consider that most everything we sense with these talents is a form of energy. The warmth of a dogs hair, the red light at the intersection, a horn blowing are all forms of energy that our senses are able to read or understand.

Being that this is a short list of accepted human senses etc it would seem obvious that there are many other forms of energy that our senses can not detect, or our brains be able to process.

Some look to ESP and similar extended senses, others speak of intuition, while even others discuss phsysic powers etc. but the point is that there are many senses we not not have or know how to use, and therefore a potential for there to be many forms of energy we have no way of seeing or understanding.

Since we can not even fully understand or sense the things around us I find it difficult to agree with the close minded thinking of "if I can not see our touch it then it can not be real" even though this seems the simple way out.

I am sure we have all seen either on TV or personally things that can not be explained. The shows today on hunting ghosts that show us visions and sounds that were not picked up while people were in the room, but were obvious with video or sound recording. Even those times when objects move with no reason, and can not be pinpointed by science.

Knowing this is would not make sense to discount the idea of their being other sources of energy that we just can not detect or begin to understand, and there is also no acceptable reason that this could include a spirit, soul, or even a supreme being that was a creator or GOD.

If any of you have ever felt these different sources of energy, or the different potential planes of existance, or even just had a glimpse of one of the other senses we posses it would be an intense experience at the least.

This is getting a bit long, but know for fact that our limited senses are missing as much of what is out there if not actually more, and allowing ourselves to ignore this all in seeking some kind of comfort in the denial of what we can not fully understand to be real is holding us back.

    Now for what I believe.

I am believing in a supreme being or God, an after life, a soul spirit or other energy force we do not understand, and also in both heaven and hell.

From investing some time when I was younger (not a lifetime lol) in learning about more than one religion besides what I was taught as a child I have learned that there are as many if not more reasons to believe in a supreme being than not to.

It would seem odd that when man was in his infancy and stretched out across the land that his various religions and thinkings would include certain aspects within most everyone.

Why would so many people of so many different beliefs from so many vastly different places all find they believe that there must be something more to their existance. Also most believe that there was something after death, and just this very consciousness alone would seem to support a GOD And afterlife.

Just consider some of the comments from Ahmed and think about the similarities between Muslims, Christrians, and Jews on many of their beliefs and it starts to like though there are differences etc what were the chances of these very different people believing such similar things.

So yes I do believe in a supreme being aka GOD, and though I can not sense him like a hand burning on a stove I have enough faith and understanding to know there is a higher power out there as well as many others we do not have a clue about at all.

Take a moment and actually read a bible or other religious book of your choice, and see what you find in your head, your heart, and even in your soul.

You may be suprised how much more sense many things can make when you do not demand to believe you are alone because you can not touch something and it requires a different sense that you are purposely repressing.

    Really try it..
Nice one Lenny, you are a spiritual person just like me, We are not affected by excessive materialism. I do believe in brain's power, and I do believe that we have a Subtle energy, but I do believe the most that we are going back to God with all my respect for all other theories

    Maybe. I don't know.

One woman in the show from the UK had a huge aneurysm and doctors there basically told her to prepare to die any day. She discovered an experimental surgery in the United States that could repair the damage. The surgery involved completely draining her body's blood while the doctors went inside the brain and repaired the damage. It was a risky procedure and during it she experienced brain death.

When she was out, she watched the doctors performing the procedure from above, and even heard the sounds of the drills. She later described what every medical staff member was doing, and the doctors were amazed by this ability. She also said that she didn't care at all that she was looking at her dead body, and that she felt peace and wanted to move away from it.

Also while she was out, her consciousness floated out of the building, and up towards a light. In it, she said she experienced the confines of her thought process expanding and thinking about complex things became much easier. She was greeted by family members and others she had come across in her life, and felt great love... however, they told her she had to go back.

Her uncle accompanied her and said she had to go back in, but she didn't want to, so he "pushed" her. She woke up from the surgery remembering all of this.

I made no claims about what is real or anything like that, I just thought it was really fascinating to watch. All of the people on the show had a similar experience in terms of the white light and seeing people they loved, and when they returned back to life most of them completely changed their professions and dedicated their lives to helping others.

Almost everyone of us had gone with an experiment, at least while sleeping.
As for me once I was sleeping and I was kind of aware of what surrounds me, At once I felt myself floating, then I heard a very noisy sharp sound, I thought that It might be my end, so I tried hardly to wake my self up by moving any part of my body, finally I woke up, but hadn't recognized what happened.

That has only ever happened to me a couple of times... and it was so minor that I don't think I can claim out of body experience. I was asleep but could see the ceiling of my bedroom (which had a lot of decorations on it), but my eyes were still closed. When I realized what was happening I came to.

    Maybe we are insane?

I wonder at what we would be capable of society if we where not bound by chemicals of the brain and laws of earth. To be nothing but our thoughts.
Is society was made of coral our world would be floral.

Re: Where do the soul goes after death ?

Interesting discussion. My response is... I do not know. Intellectually, I simply cannot believe in an all-knowing diety in the sky watching all 6 billion of us earthings and casting judgment about our fate. There are billions of "earth-like" planets in the universe, and I must conclude that there are millions of planets with sentient beings like ourselves... somewhere.

Part of me believes that death is simply the absence of life... a black nothingness that mirrors the unconscious state. However, I have had experiences that perplex me and make me believe that there may be a dimensional "afterlife" that our energy, our unique "mindprint" may encompass after our bodies are dead. So despite my "athesist" leanings, I am nonetheless a spiritual person who believes that there may indeed be something out there after we die, something that we are not evolved enough to understand so must create dieties to convince us that we, as humans, are so special to the universe that our essence cannot possibly be lost after death.

But if my beloved pets are not there, I do not want to be there, for I know that my human-ness in no way elevates me above the goodness and grace of those stoic animals that I have loved in my lifetime. That is where I part from organized religion, the insistance that we, humans, are made in "god's" image and were created to dominate the magnificent creatures of the planet. The "creatures" that I have known and loved have more goodness in a single paw than any human I have known possesses in their entire lives.

I guess in the long run, I perceive that death equals nothingness. I cannot be certain, of course, but I will know soon enough.
