You believe it is a fact.
That you believe it to be a fact does not make it so.

No, it is a fact. It is undenable, given the overwhelming weight of evidence, that life evolves. We see it every single day. Precisely how it evolves and what mechanisms are involved in that evolution may be questionable, but the fact that evolution occurs is not.

That's like saying that people only believe gravity is a fact.

As for that being the reality is unknown. For all we know advanced human(or human like) civilizations could have existed on earth long before 10000 bc.

Ooh, in Atlantis, I bet!

Because written history from other human beings says so. Not speculation from todays human beings based on how things are today and assumptions based on how things are today and how society then must have been before.

How do you know when these accounts were written? The only way we have of accurately dating these accounts is radiometric and as soon as you accept radiometric dating, then you have to accept all the other things that radiometric dating shows us about human civilization.

Or didn't you understand that part?

My point was I said Einstein believed in intelligent design and he did.

I can see why you stopped participating after page 5, your so out of your depth.

Paul.

There are a lot of variables to be considered. Our sun is a third-generation star, it's formed of the elements cast off from the death of other stars. If you're talking civilizations that evolved around first-generation stars, certainly they would be billions of years ahead of anything that we could imagine, assuming they still existed.

Our own evolution never required life to "start over", only to go off in new directions. We had one collision with another planet which blew Earth apart and caused the formation of the moon, but because life never existed on Earth at all at that point, it never "started over". We've also suffered at least two major asteroid impacts, but neither wiped out life completely. We've also had one "big freeze" and one "big burn" which also decimated life worldwide, but again didn't entirely wipe it out. In fact, most of these disasters have had a direct impact on humanity, in our specific form, coming into existence to begin with. Had we not had the impact 65 million years ago, for instance, that wiped out the dinosaurs and made mammalian evolution to a dominant lifeform possible, we very well might be reptiles typing away on the equivalent of keyboards today.

There are current studies that show how the entire path of evolution is still mapped in our genes. This is for every species for that matter.

Under examination of the early stages after fertilization of an egg for example, you can see the early stages where humans had a tail, birds had teeth etc. and the gene evolution goes through fast mutating stages during early embrionic phases mapped in.

It is believed that they may find a way to stop these early mutations at an early stage and actually grow an early representative for each species at different levels of evolution....

I think I can set the matter straight:

First of all, I believe that it is quite possible that the idea that god created the universe and that life evolves can both be true.

I also believe that what the creationists/intelligent design people are saying is that god created things, including life, perfectly and as they are right now. Their position is so untenable it is even hard to define. For example, and on the simplest level, they don't account for change even though change can be seen with the common eye. How can you believe that the design of anything is the only form it has ever been in, if it can be proven empirically that something or some part of a thing has changed.

Intelligent design/creationism, is a false theory, which talks us out of our own eyeballs (senses), to further a political agenda. Namely, if we can destroy science in the name of religion, than we can also destroy bipartisonship and make everyone see things the same way, the Christian Fundamentalist way.
Creationism/ID is not a theory, it's not even a hypothesis.

How about devolution?

First off, evolution and creationism are not necessarily mutually exclusive since evolution does not attempt to "explain" how or why life came to be. Merely how it evolved once it DID come to be.

But no, I do not believe in any sort of mythological gods or goddesses blinking "life" into existence.

I had some die hard creationists in my raft once on the New River. They were quite hilarious. Apparently dinosaurs never actually existed. All the fossils were planted by the "devil" to misdirect us. Everything on the planet now is exactly as it was at creation - which according to them was 6000 years ago. (and that's what I've most often been able to determine the bible figuring) And NOTHING existed prior to 6,000 years ago.

So, while we're on this river that has CUT A GORGE through a MOUNTAIN THAT WAS LEVELED BY GLACIERS, I mention volcanoes and oh... I dunno... RIVERS to this group of obviously misguided, but well-meaning souls. They said rivers don't cut through mountains, and volcanoes don't create new land. That the earth - as it is now - is exactly as it was at creation 6000 years ago. Nothing has changed, nothing ever will.

I seriously just sat blinking at their sheer willful ignorance for a few seconds before pointing out a blue heron that landed on an island in the river and trying to divert the conversation to anything BUT their ludicrous notions about creationism. Because I really didn't know how long I'd be able to keep from busting out laughing. I did manage to though, and get a pretty decent tip from them. ;)

I guess they never heard of the Hawaiian Islands which are still being formed. I believe there is also an island in that chain that hasn't reached the surface yet. So much for that idea.

Do you mean that humanity is getting dumber and dumber as those best adapted are no longer the only ones who reproduce?

That must explain why there are so many creationists.

With such intelligence why are you still posting here? Shouldn't you be out solving world hunger or something?

I could totally solve world hunger, but it involves genocide and tartar sauce so most people balk at the idea.

Well if you add genetically altered monkeys, I am behind you 100%. ;)

Wow...I think I'm going to ask my grandma to stitch this on a pillow or something!

You're one sick bastard!
Everyone knows you tartar sauce is only good for shrimp and fish.
Get with the program you use KC Masterpiece!

Are you suggesting that people who are out solving world hunger don't have time to post on forums?

Not at all.

I am suggesting that people who make un-funny generalizations should be euthanized.

The Bible does not say that the earth is 9000 years old. What a bunch of poo. Instead of making things up, why not use facts?

Also, here's a great article on the existence of God: Here.

Survival of the fittest does NOT come anywhere near explaining the beginning of the universe. It simply explains species adaptation. Something that, in itself, points to an intelligent designer.

These are some of the most crazy leaps of assumption I've ever seen. You can't prove a thing of what you said.

I wonder how many people realize that Darwin was not an atheist.

I would not fuss about the 6,000 year Creationists, I strongly suspect that their numbers are diminishing....and being replaced by a combo of creation/ID/evolution believers.......
I think they are one step closer to the truth
And 100 years from now....maybe a more intelligent design will be in vague......
Some think that we know a lot....I think we know very, very little; and we will discover this in another 10,000 years.....or another 1M years...

And still, this Evolution thing is a bit difficult to swallow....too many things taken in "faith" , too many unknowns....too many missing links.

But, the Creation thing causes me to regurgitate. ..Here there are so many afraid to think....or maybe they cannot:confused:
