Is President Obama Establishing a Trend of Dishonesty?

Given his flip-flop on issues like campaign financing, the FISA bill, and now lobbyists, is it fair to say Barack Obama is developing a trend of dishonesty?

I would say absolutely, although I'm sure some of the resident Obamaphiles will proffer their convoluted justifications.

Didn't he say gun owners had nothing to worry about to.

If you look on whitehouse.gov we can see that he now supports making a permanent "assault weapons ban."

Obamaites don't care if President Obongo lies. Reminds me of a herd of cattle in the old days being driven to market. As long as they have plenty of grass and water along the way they could care less where they are going.

I'm not sure "establishing" is the correct word.

    More like "continuing."

Bush was a giant flip flopper, who dishonestly did a great many things. Clinton lied about a great many things. Every president does. Establishing is the incorrect term.

Always remember. A politician's job is to get elected. Obama is a politician, just as they all are. Getting elected in whatever way necessary is what they do. I like Obama as opposed to most of the other potentials that could have been President, but he's a politician, just doing what politician's do.

I'm speaking within the context of his campaign and administration, not of the Presidency in general. Also, the lies of Presidents past do not justify his dishonesty. I supported Ron Paul specifically for two reasons; his principles matched mine almost exactly and I was extremely confident he would make good on all his promises; uncertainty in either regard would have been a deal-breaker for me. Had Ron Paul been elected (I know, bear with me) and proceeded to capitulate in the face of conventional governance you would not see me proffering any justifications on his behalf. I would drag him over the coals without a moment's hesitation.

I do not feel that being a politician is a valid rationale for breaking one's promises and violating one's supposed principles, although, it seems, many Obamaphiles do, but only when George Bush isn't the one in the White House. This is more about their hypocrisy than his. I expected as much from Obama, but his supporters are reticent to scrutinize him. I find this cult-like mentality disturbing to say the least.

So, then you would agree that Obama doesn't really represent change from business as usual? Just more lies and distortions in order to obtain and maintain power? Also, if you expected this kind of blatant hypocrisy from Obama then why did you support him in the first place? I figured integrity and character would be important qualities to possess in a President.

Maybe, but then again, he is a politician. Those wankers will say virtually anything to get elected.

Also, the lies of Presidents past do not justify his dishonesty
I never said or implied they did, merely that Obama was following in Bush's dishonest foot steps, as Bush did in Clinton's smaller dishonest foot steps as every president does.

Well, it kind of is a prerequisite to get elected in this country. One makes all kind of claims to get elected and then breaks them in the course of their administration.

Just goes to show just how much hate people have for Dubya. There's always hypocrisy in people who follow presidents. There's still whackjobs HERE that have that mentality for Bush. Remember Aquapub stated that the fiscal mess caused during the all GOP Government is the Democrat's fault. I'm not lying. But you are right in that the mentality is quite disturbing.

So, then you would agree that Obama doesn't really represent change from business as usual?
(I realize not to me but I'll chime in anyways).

Depends what you mean by business as usual. It is a change in the business as usual from the Bush administration? Yes. It is a change from the overall corruption of D.C? No.

I am sorry but I consider this a pointless and wierd poll.

We are just loosing the greatest presidential liar in history and you are throwing out BS only after a couple of weeks in office. It is just inuendo and trash. Wait until he does something. He has done nothing yet.
