I am not sure I know what that is? I seriously thought it was a crash test dummy. What is it supposed to be?

Up and throw away the keys crucified--crucified for your sins crucified--crucified for your sins they don't know our feelings--only desperate cries they see reflections through distorted eyes we

Agnostic Front?

Agnostic Front?

They covered it yes. It was an iron cross song..... though not the origination of the symbol, an apt description of it, and its working class roots

The only hardcore I like is really early 80s hardcore where it was more or less punk. At some point it became really more a metal genre, and suffered greatly because of it.

Also hardcore guys look like ****. A band hoody, athletic shorts and addidas track shoes are something you go to the GYM in, not outside where people can see you.

Also, straightedge? Posi?

Seriously, hardcore got real gay, real fast. Now you have The Seventh Seal of the Avenging Avengencers Of Glory, who are "posi straightedge" and sound like the second level of Super Mario (the duh-luh-luh-luhluh part in the pipes). No ****ing thank you.

The entire 90s contributed very little to the punk genre that wasn't totally negative. Hardcore became ****, skate punk was THE WORST...folk punk (like the Dropkick Murphys) was cool for awhile, but you can only make so many punk songs that include the bagpipes.

Yeah, you can follow youth of today right down the pooper in what happened to hardcore.

Dead Kennedy's was the end of real punk to me.

Green Day was the final nail in the coffin.

Green Day was Pop-Rock as far as I'm concerned.

I like the Dead Kennedy's. I just couldnt stand to listen to any other punk after their reign.

I think contemporary punk is experiencing a resurgence. There's a lot of new Crust Punk bands coming out and the scene is pretty healthy.

The problem is that bands that twenty five years ago would have been just normal punk bands like the Dead Kennedys or Black Flag today become crust bands because they have to make absolutely sure they're in no way associated with "posi-hardcore" or gay ass Blink 182.

It means that bands that could be making really good music in studios with actual instruments are trying to record on their own in squats with **** instruments. I, personally, would like to go to a show in a place that isn't full of garbage and 14 year old runaways. That would be fun for me, if only occasionally.

We have three places we can firmly blame ALL of this on:

DC (****ty straightedge)
Boston (****ty hardcore)
Souther California (****ty skate punk)

It's their fault. NYC Hardcore tried to punk it up a little bit, but they just ended up making "beat you up" tough guy hardcore and it didn't help much. Boston also gets somewhat forgiveness for giving us the Dropkicks and the Streetdogs, totally good bands. Otherwise, **** their posi hardcore bull****.

As for Oi!, it's a dead genre. Dead. Gone. No more. All the folk punk stuff (FOi!lk) revived it a little bit, but like I said there's only so many songs you can make with punk rhythms and bagpipes and the Dropkicks basically did all of them.

Yeah. not a huge fan of dropkick. It's slapshot after choke took up drinking in an irish bar after he tried to do ska as the bosstones..

yeah, all of boston sounds like choke.

the dropkick murphys are so awesome; I love them with all my body (including my pee pee).

I saw them live in a bar in Southie with MAYBE 20 other people. It wasn't billed, totally secret, no tickets. Yeah it's a pretty big deal. If you want to make friends in Dorchester in Boston just put "Skinhead on the MBTA" on the juke, then everyone will like you. If you want to get your ass kicked put on "Shipping up to Boston", then everyone will hate you and beat you like the poseur you are.

You need to start liking them right now, they're the only decent think that's come out of punk in almost 30 years.

they're totally unique. seriously. i love them. SO MUCH. WAY better then Choke. WAY BETTER.

Ska isn't just dead, it's been brutally raped and displayed...

I HATE ska kids that think they know **** about Skinheads. Just because we both listen to Desmond Dekker doesn't mean we're going to hang out, you emo glasses wearing dork.

I could never get into punk. I went headfirst into metal and never looked back.

gay ass Blink 182

I liked Enema of the State when I was a little skater-punk, but I thought their 2003 album (untitled) was really, really good. I guess I'm just gay...wanna make out?

yeah metal is so cool, I remember that one time that band had a 20 minute long medly-medly-medly guitar solo in that one song that was basically the lord of the rings.

Oh, come on now, You want to play the "ignorant generalizations" game?

"Remember that one punk show where the guy sang about how society ****ed him and then that one guy punched me in the mouth and we all started fighting? So awesome."

+10000..... Real big fish should be a felony

All third wave Ska is awful. Reel Big Fish, Might Mighty Bosstones, Less then Jake...****ing NO DOUBT! No Doubt! Although they get some points for their hilarious cover of that Vandals song (actually the Vandals weren't bad, for being from SoCal).

I will listen to ONE THOUSAND hours of the Dropkicks sing Irish sea shanties about unity and will ASK FOR MORE at the end.

Something about music directly influenced by classical is neat to me.
