    Gambling

    Should it be legal?

This idea sparked by Kandahar's Indian thread.

I am fine with it being legal... Just do not expect me to partake

I think it should be legal. One point I would raise though is that it would be a huge hit against Indians since it is one of the few things they have to raise their standard of living. Doesn't necessarily make it right for the government to grant them a monopoly however.

Yes it should If an adult wants to gamble it should be a right under the pursuit of happiness. As long as it does not infringe on someone else's rights.

    Re: Gambling

To have gambling illegal would be about as stupid as a law against alcohol or marijuana or tobacco or prostitution...

    Tax it, control it, locally.

: I misread "legal" for "illegal".

I see no compelling reason why gambeling should be illegal. Though, I believe it is within a state's right to determine its legality.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Your point is valid regarding the hit against the tribes. I have no doubt they would feel the pinch as new casinos opened. I think it would level out though and still provide a lot of income as well as a lot more jobs for many other people.

We have casinos here, but they're all under the no smoking law and they can't have slots. Those are two big problems for a casino. If they were granted the same freedom that the tribal casinos have, I think it would be a good thing for a lot of people.

I'm hoping to see some changes on the ballot next time around.

I would chat with her when I'm feeling particularly snarky, but I wouldn't ever call her on the phone.

I can't believe I actually agree with the good Reverend.
