    Legalizing the selling of organs

    So what do you think?

Should there be a legal transaction for selling/buying organs?

I'd like to see what you folks think, there is a rational, and very interesting argument here

Of course it should be legal, but only to sell your own organs, which obviously can be proven genetically.

Of course it should be legal. It's my damn body, I should be able to sell whatever I want of it. I sell my mind every day, I also sell the actions of every single other part of my body. I sell the strength of my arms, legs, and back. I sell the ability of my fingers, hands, and mouth/voice. I can sell my plasma too. And my eggs. And give away my blood. I can lease my body to be used by science (clinical trials).

Why the hell shouldn't I be allowed to sell a kidney? I can sure as **** GIVE one away, so why not sell it?

The opposing argument (which isn't my position anyway) says that it creates a system in which poor people start selling their organs to rich people who can afford it.

You could just charge handling fees.

Well than you could also say that the rich people who may employ the poor people will die and it may cause more poor people to suffer a severe job loss. If the poor person voluntarily decides to do so who cares?

As it is now since you can't sell them there is a shortage of available organs.

I'm not sure I see the problem with that. People are always selling their minds, their labor, their services, etc to people who can afford it. Wouldn't the whole point of selling something to begin with be that someone will buy it?

I agree, I was just trying to show the opposing side...

As of now it is not legal. So there must be a great deal of people out there who oppose the idea.

Re: Legalizing the selling of organs

I want to know if there really is a blackmarket for organs and where do they get them and who do they sell them to and all that?

As far as legalizing the selling, I guess I could care less, unless it put the person selling the organ at an unhealthy risk.

I'd have to say the majority has been wrong a hell of a lot.
