Damn if we did that, I would cease to exist as my birthday is 9/17

There's our "I don't exist" argument again- this is getting too good
Is what you're living for today, worth dying for tomorrow?

I'm sorry, DHS has determined that in order to prevent another 9/11 we will have to terminate your existence.

    Have a nice day.

Or if America he ceased to support Israeli actions in the Occupied Territories.

The 19 terrorists would have found another way to kill just as many people and instead of 9/11 we'd probably have 4/19 or 5/15 or some other number. Flying a plane into a building is not exactly the easiest way to go when wanting to kill a large number of people. I know it's fun to blame Bush and/or Clinton for 9/11 but anybody who seriously claims and believes we could have seen 19 Arabs hopping on planes and running them against buildings is either a fool or just plain out retarded. Nobody could have seen anything like Pearl Harbor coming or the Oklahoma city bombing or the USS Cole and even if they did, so what? We would have had other attacks named differently with different dates in different places.

In the world of hindsight 20/20 we see everything heading our way long after we've passed it.

Dude, I asked my BIL what kept planes from flying into Sears Tower. He said it couldn't happen. I said what if the plane was hijacked.

That was July 3, 2001. I was at the Taste of Chicago.

You don't think they could have gotten into this country as visitors? We have no rules against tourists coming here. And then all they had to do is visit a True Value Hardware for some box cutters.

Unless you get some inside info you're not going to stop attacks. Those guys didn't tell anybody what they were going to do so nobody knew anything. It's really a wonder they never attacked again. Even in a smaller way.

Ya know, America Airlines used to pass out box cutters with their company name on them as a little marketing gift to people.

Yeah nobody would have seen it coming. Not in a million years. Just like nobody thought a day before Pearl Harbor that any foreign enemy would actually be as bold as to attack us on our own turf. The idea of a bunch of guys using box cutters to hijack and fly a plane into a building is just so ****ing far fetched that nobody would think it's even remotely possible had it not been for 9/11.

I can think of at least 19 people that thought it was remotely possible.

You do realize that we pay people to think of things like this right?

In Debt of Honor, Tom Clancy describes a similar event to 9/11 occuring with a Japanese pilot going Kamikaze way back in 1994. (Oh yeah, we should probably remember that we were already well aware that people have used this tactic before considering that whole "Kamikaze" stuff in WWII)

And on top of that, George Carlin pointed out the absurdity of allowing knives on planes in 1999:

They'll take away a gun, but let you keep a knife. Well, what the **** is that? In fact, there is a whole list of lethal objects they will allow you to take on board. Theoretically, you could take a knife, an ice pick, a hatchet, a straight razor, a pair of scissors, a chainsaw, six knitting needles, and a broken whiskey bottle, and the only thing they're going to say to you is, "That bag has to fit all the way under the seat in front of you."

And if you didn't bring a weapon on board, *relax*. After you've been flying for about an hour, they're going to *bring* you a knife and fork! They actually *give* you a ****ing knife! It's only a table knife, but you could kill a pilot with a table knife. It might take you a couple minutes. You know. Yeah, especially if he's hefty.

So to say that "nobody could have seen it coming" is pretty ridiculous.

An author and a comedian combined to figure out the exact situation that occured on 9/11.

Are these two cats smarter than every single person who was making decisions about our safety?

Unfortunately, the answer is apparently "yes".
