Just wondering if it would help the direction of America if there was a minimum IQ standard to be eligible to vote for President?

No.
A person with a low-I.Q. will never be elected to the Presidency.

I think using IQ as a standard for intelligence is a poor one, I believe intelligence presents itself in various forms.

Even if it were a good standard, I would oppose taking away the right to vote from ANY citizen; I'm a civil libertarian.

If anything, the system should be replaced with one where EVERYONE has to earn the right to vote by demonstrating an understanding of what it means to live in a constitutional republic.

To bad we cannot judge wisdom, as that would be a much better qualifier for voting.

Agree, totally agree.
I feel that the man in the voting booth must be able to read..Also he should be able to comprehend "well written" instructions...
Remember the hanging chads....

Didn't lefties already tried to bash the intelligence of everyone who voted for Bush and make similar suggestions of Jim Crow like voting test? Now it seems conservatives are doing the same thing because Obama won. As conservatives we shouldn't be pulling the same immature nonsense that lefties pull. Leftist may bash the intelligence of voters who voted differently than they did, may make lies like Bush went AWOL,Bush stole the elections, Bush lied to get us into Iraq, and Bush masterminded 9-11 and so on , but just because one side does it doesn't make it right for the other to do the same thing.

Voted No.

Two questions:

1) What do you think the minimum IQ cutoff should be before voting is allowed?

2) Who do you trust to design and adjudicate these tests?

No but I have no problem in restricting voting to those who are net tax payers or say disabled veterans who lost the ability to be net tax payers due to injuries sustained in service to the nation

Those who don't contribute to the public treasury should not be able to out vote us who do

I agree with that. I also think the age should be put back to 21 unless you are in the military.

Of course not.
However there should be a minimum standard for the man running for office..:rofl
I did like the idea of debates, too bad there was no real moderator and that neither knew how to debate..
I voted for neither....or "none of the above".

Perhaps it would be better if politicians just tried to raise the general and political awareness as well as education & smarts of everyone.
