I think he's trying to say that your list of negative consequences are not unique to illegal drugs. Therefore it doesn't make sense that you use them as reasons why shrooms and weed are a "plague on society", while other legal things having the same consequences are not. Unless you explain what the difference is, it seems hypocritical.

Re: What Are Our Reasons That We Choose Not To Use Illegal Drugs

I think for me, there was a whole lifestyle that went with drug use, as far as the acquaintances I spent all my time with, my work, everything.
I got bored with it all at the same time.
More, I got depressed with it. I just realized that I wasn't liking the direction my life was going. I didn't like my work. I didn't like any of my friends. I missed my family. I missed myself, the self I am when I'm alone and sober.
I felt guilty that I was getting older and contributing nothing positive to the world.
Drugs were becoming more trouble than they were worth, because I hated coming down off them almost more than I liked being high.
I was worried about my husband, who, unlike me, was actually falling into addiction.

So, you see, there were a lot of reasons.
I never liked pot; if I did like pot, I'd probably smoke it.
Many of my family members smoke it, and I don't see it as being much of a drug.
It doesn't take you away from the people you love or prevent you from living your life in a positive way.
    I just... don't like it. That's why I don't smoke it.
If I wanted to, I would, though. And I wouldn't feel like I was doing anything wrong, cheating myself or shortchanging those I care about.

Yes sir. You should read DMT: The Spirit Molecule by Dr. Rick Strassman.

I don't and never have, simply because I view those who feel the need to ingest/smoke/pop/whatever something foreign in order to feel good about themselves, to be complete and utter losers. If you can't feel like a good person without altering your brain chemistry, you're an ass.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

I agree with you, but not everyone who uses illegal substances "needs" them. It's like coffee: No one needs it, but a hell of a lot of people enjoy it.

The point is still vague, what legal thing are you talking about that has similar effects?

Other reason: I'm an intellectually superior Human Being (obviously,) and I have little desire to risk that exalted status.

Tell that to the doctors, lawyers, professors, etc. who use illegal substances.

This is a public forum, thus, I just did.

    You see?
