Not nearly as often as I would like, but I still manage to work out several times a month. Soon as I'm working again and have some of my overdue bills paid off, I'm considering getting my gym membership back-- but I might try to get my boffer combat practice group meeting twice per week, and get myself a suit of armor so I can particpate in the local SCA's fighter practice.

Since I couldn't keep up payments on my gym membership, and I've been working out in my friend's basement, my workouts lately have been ten minutes at a steady pace for warm-up, bench press until failure, and then hitting the heavy bag twice per second for two minutes or until I'm too tired to continue.

My diet's crap, on account of I eat what I can when I can-- and that's neither good food nor every day. Plan on fixing that as soon as I'm working again, too. I've been dreaming about beans and rice, stir fry, and huge green salads for way too long already.

Haha! Your dream is my reality.

I need to do a lot better, however I'm not overweight. I control my weight by just eating less sometimes, or doing without that little extra like desert or candy....

Trying to get into more balance and coordination training.. I ought to take some dance classes of some sort, any suggestion?
Started out with all the Ballroom dances to get a good foundation, and for the last ten years I have concentrated solely on the Latin dances. I do some tap dancing to increase foot-speed, and ballet to magnify body manipulation.

Dancing will definitely improve your strength, agility, balance, coordination, and bend-ability. It can also be the gateway to a greater sense of innovation, flair, and self-confidence.

Wow, pretty serious work-outer?

I eat lots of rice, meat and massive amounts of salad and fruit and avoid refined sugar products and all soda drinks, but I do not mind eating fat.. Isn't fat good for you?

I love different sauces for example.

Certain fats are good for you, just like certain carbs are good for you, and certain proteins are better for muscle building than others. With everything, its all about moderation.

I hate when people go on Atkins diet, and sit there and eat a **** ton of bacon in the morning instead of a bowl of cereal. Cutting carbs does help you lose weight, but in the long run it is not a healthy lifestyle to remove carbs form your diet(especially at the cost of increased cholesterol/fat). Its more of a weight "cutting" technique, than a weight loss technique.

I do work out several times a week and not nearly as much as I used to or would like to. Having a newborn does that, but on the flip side picking her up, carrying around her carseat, and just running around and playing with her makes up for alot of the working out I am missing. My arms are getting a bad ass tone to them. Also, I just generally do what I can when she goes to sleep at night and I'm not dead tired and I always do my stretches and light aerobics every morning.

I love to roller skate. In the winter I just go to a skating rink when I can and in the summer just go wherever.

I vary my work-out routines a lot, so much so that it couldn't really be called a "routine". I hate, HATE HATE working out, so I have to change things up or I just flat out won't do it. I enjoy doing sports that give me a workout as opposed to just working out. Because, as I mentioned, I HATE working out.

Most of the summer I boogie-boarded just about every day, walked my dog for about 20-30 min fast walk, worked out on the bowflex 3x a week. Then it got too cold to enjoy boogie boarding, so I started scuba diving instead. Doing Tae Bo, and still walking and using the bowflex.

I do bellydancing and hula when the mood strikes me too.

Now that I'm back in WV and outdoor stuff is not very easy to do this time of year, and my bowflex is in storage, I'll probably start going to the YMCA and swimming laps along with doing the tae bo and dancing.

Before too much longer, I expect to be scuba diving most every day which should take care of the rest of the weight I want to lose and the muscle tone I want to get back.

I had a girlfriend who did tango, that was hot, but she turned out to be a bitch.

I do capoeira, but its not really a dance.

I was thinking about ballet primarily, would that be a wise choice? I have problems with fast(small) rhythmic movement, left/right coordination between legs and arms mostly.

But ballet is suppose to be fantastic for flexibility also and flexibility strength(called agility?), like for example holding ones foot far in the air for a long time, that type of concentration and stamina..?

Ballet will certainly help with these and... allow you to do them gracefully ;)

Lol. I can easily put the high-heel of a Tango shoe on the tip of your nose without bending my torso at all.

I am not exactly a graceful dancer, rather a bit clumsy, even sloppy sometimes in my moves. :rofl

But ballet for a man, wouldn't that be kind of strange?

:sword:

Wow, thats just a damn fine thing.

When I get to hip level with my feet either way my torso automatically starts bending and there is nothing I can do(yet).

On the other hand I can do some pretty feisty moving around.

If there is ever one area of physical fitness I need drastic improvement on, its flexibility. Its getting bad enough, that I may have to consider yoga of some type to avoid some kind of surgery a few years down the road. When I cut my toenails, I consider that to be a stretching excercise. Thats about the level I am at, for flexibility.

 Try capoeira. Its very good for balance, flexibility and strength, aside from it being a very nice and peaceful form of martial arts. Yoga is just boring. Sorry.

Just out of curiosity... Do you work out regularly, and I do not mean life popcorn in the TV chair, but organized sport or private work out schedules and strict training programs etc.

Yes. I run at least 5 km five times a week, commute on my bicycle, weight train 3-4 days a week, play soccer and other sports regularly. I am in very good shape for a 37-year old and will run a half-marathon this weekend.

I try to eat well. I do like my snack foods, but I enjoy them in moderation.

Wow, I'm 24, I can't run a half marathon.. One of my goals before I am 28 is to run a marathon and complete it the first time I run it.

I also try to run 5km five times a week, and then walk back, but its always more like 3-4 times a week.

wow, you actually like beans?

Are you kidding? Sure, I like beans. I eat them a lot.
Like 3 or 4 times a week, either beans or lentils or dried peas.
Here's my dinner tonight:

Rice, asparagus, brussels sprouts.
Actually, I had the exact same thing last night, except I had carrots instead of brussels sprouts.
Tomorrow, I'll probably have beans to get some protein.

My diet is much like what Korimyr described- veggies and whole grains, stir-fries and salads, plus a lot of fruit smoothies.
That's pretty much what my tummy can tolerate these days.
Not that I don't occasionally binge on candy and chips and junk food. I do.
Often, actually.

I've seen capoeria, it doesn't look like something a guy my size should really try, just like gymnastics. Are there many guys that are 190.5 cm and 106kg that do capoeria over there?

I'm exactly the same as you. My flexibility stinks, so I started doing yoga a few months back. Once a week is enough for me, and I find it harder than a 50 km bike ride. Honestly.

I got overly cocky about a month ago and hyperextended my hip. I had to explain--to the giggles of my tennis buds--that I couldn't run well cuz I had a yoga injury. :doh

It is hard, and I do find it boring as hell, but it does help. But it takes time before it starts getting easier.

Wow, Brussels sprouts... They taste special, I acquired a taste for it after my Belgian ex-girlfriend made them for me regularly. Now I do not eat them anymore.
I never liked beans, the taste is not that bad but I don't like the way it feels in the mount and teeth.

I eat lots of breads also in addition to the things I mentioned before. Do you not just love good bread?

That looks really yummi. What did you mix in the rice?

There's nothing better than good bread. There's a shop close to my house that makes the absolute best. My favourite is a 12 grain fennel bread that is to die for.

Wow, thats big.. I am 183 and 85ish kg(quite big also), works fine for me.. In my class there was a guy at more than 2 meters, skinny fellow, he managed. I guess it works for everyone, he had advantage with long legs(sometimes), they flew dangerously all around me in the roda.

That all looks really good. I love brussels sprouts simmered in orange juice and garlic. Yuu-uummy.

Tonight, I had some crab meat with onions and mushrooms over whole grain pasta with some hollandaise sauce. Most unhealthy meal ever but so good.

But yeah, I mostly eat grains, rice, green vegetables, chicken, and fruit smoothies and juices. I also eat every three hours that I am awake so that my basal metabolism stays peaked.
